This card, I feel indicates: deception, things kept hidden. Not revealing all that is there. I also feel this has to do with emerging emotions. Walking a path unfamiliar. Obsticles, things that keep you apart from???....Just things getting in the way generally. Maybe a choice of some sort, like choosing sides.

Another card that challenges me! I have learned to love the ones I get so many off the wall thoughts about.... but then again maybe not so off the wall.

This one has pretty much the same elements as the Rider Waite. The towers are shown as towering rocks nearer the two animals. There isn't the fiery sparks floating down from the moon, or a face depicted in the moon. The crab is drawn tiny, and harder to find on the shore. The mountains appear more mist and clouds so you can't tell where the mountains end and the clouds begin. Both the dog and the wolf are still seen to be howling at the moon.

Obviously the rocks/towers represent the balance of power like the pillars on earlier cards. Between them is a misty world, reminescent of the veil hiding the secrets of the Divine. I see a lot of hidden, mysterious, or secretive things in this card.

I believe the dog represents the conscious mind (being tamed and domesticated) and the wolf the subconscious (wild and free and we are marginally aware of it). I think the misty mountains represent the mysterious, the hidden secrets, the 'forbidden' desires. All we need to do to find enlightenment is follow the path in front of us, but the fear of the howling animals (deception, illusion) keeps us from going forward.

This card being ruled by the moon and having the crab, a symbol of cancer (my birth sign) reinforces how much of an emotionally charged card this is. It deals with emotions: fear, deception, illusion.

Dogs were once breed for hunting and tracking, the wolf is a symbol of the carnivorous hunter at large.... i think these are also physical representations of the danger that being deceived and falling for illusions can bring us to. You can't live with deceptions without it being detrimental... this card says to wake up!

Okay [stepping away from the keyboard] I think I'll let someone esle have a turn now. LOL!

Hi all!
I see a path between obstacles.Follow your emotions and intuition out of the water and follow your path. The subconscious. There might be trouble ahead, but safety lies just in front if you stay on your path. There are choices between the conscious and subconscious,so one needs to find the balance.

This card represents subtly of things. Not necessarily deception for me becuase the way is clear...
Arcane knowledge. Involvement in the occult...

This one doesnt really come up that much in my readings for others or myself ~

The Moon in the tarot is all about self deception, illusion and confusion for me ~ its also a waiting and self belief card as it often shows depression.
Its a very emotional card and often suggests that the querrant has to be guided in the reading and shown their own power.
Its a self doubting card ~ the querrant is split into many ways of thinking and their head is a mess!
As Brightstar said ~ one needs to find balance and a path back into the light ~ the Sun.

DESCRIPTION

If you look around the room right now, you will (probably!) see people and objects that are comforting in their familiarity. Everything is exactly as you expect it to be. You know that if you closed your eyes and opened them, the room would be the same. But...have you ever lost the familiar to find, in its place, a world so extraordinary you can't even grasp it? This is the experience of the Moon.

Most of the time we live in a tiny pocket of normality that we wrap around us like a security blanket. We turn our backs on the mysterious universe that waits outside. From time to time we may sneak a peak with our imagination, or venture out through fantasy or expanded awareness. We can be thrust out there unprepared through drugs, madness or intense experiences such as battle.

The Moon is the light of this realm - the world of shadow and night. Although this place is awesome, it does not have to be frightening. In the right circumstances, the Moon inspires and enchants. It holds out the promise that all you imagine can be yours. The Moon guides you to the unknown so you can allow the unusual into your life.

Sadly, we are usually afraid of the Moon. In readings, this card often stands for fears and anxieties - the ones that come in the darkest part of the night. Card 18 also stands for illusions. It is easy to lose our way in the moonlight. Be careful not to let deceptions and false ideas lead you astray. Sometimes the Moon is a signal that you are lost and wandering aimlessly. You must find your way back to the path and your clarity of purpose.
