Hi everyone!
I've a question concerning ritual tools. I'm currently in the proces of collecting them and it's not easy to get most of them. Unfortunately there are no magickal shops in my town, so I have to improvise a bit. However with tools such as athame I'm not sure what to do. Can I use a normal knife? Can I make it myself? Help me, please, because I'm lost.

making your own athame is the best way (if you're talented that way). just remember that a double edged blade is preferred.
and magickal stores aren't really neccessary, just browse through the second-hand stores in your area. 'junk' shops, antique stores, pawn shops and the like can yield really wonderful results.
but make extra sure to cleanse and purify anything you buy that is used.
and remember also that ultimately the tools are just that, tools. an aid to help your subconscious get to that magickal state. not having them DOESN'T mean that you can't still do the rituals.

I agree, making one yourself is the best way....but when I started out, I had nothing and couldn't afford anything, so....I improvised and cleansed and consecrated a kitchen knife and used it only for my magical workings.

Another alternative would be to surf the net for an occult suppy site. You could always order one if you are more comfortable doing it that way. ;)

sometimes the best tools are those inside yourself. . . . Hey, if all else fails, you can practically "imagine" a tool to work with. If you "make belive" you can create things astrally, you can work with the energy. I myself never had many tools until recently, most of mine are gifts from friends. The most unlikely things might present themselves for your use. . . just go with what feels right!

One way or another, the energy you put into something is what makes it majickal. **Smiles** So even if you don't have any tools, and choose to work with the energy directly, you're still just about as well-off as someone who has an athame for every day of the week. :)

Agreed! :)

There is no <right> or <wrong> way to go about collection your tools, if you decide to have them at all! Go with what's inside yourself on this.

I've been collecting mine for the past three years! I decided I DID want tools to work with. But I also accepted that I didn't want to rush out and buy/make them all that same week.

I find when I am ready for it, the Goddess presents it to me.
Whatever it may be. Alot of the time I just start thinking
about something, and I'm lead to it, even in the most unsuspecting places.

Of course we each have our own way.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll try and find everything and not hurry, I really liked the idea of an "imaginary" tool :) Just have to practice visualisation a bit more;)
