Hi there -

I finally got nudged into remembering to take a look in here - lovely place! And, having posted, thought I should also do a short intro.

(Further details at http://gleewood.org/personal )

I'm 25 (and a half) and am currently 2/3 of the way (ok, in 2 weeks, I'll be 2/3 done) through my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (part-time - I do two classes a semester, and I've got another 2 semesters to go). I work full time as a library paraprofessional, and part time babysitting a computer lab at school. (Yes, I'm busy ;) I just applied for what would be my dream job (if they're willing to consider me without my having completed the MLIS yet..) but we'll see. (Good wishes on that appreciated..) Oh, yeah. I live in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In my personal life, I'm polyamorous, and my OSO is visiting me starting on Friday, and I just filed the fiance visa application for my fiance (who's Canadian), so he'll hopefully be *local* sometime later this summer or so.

I spend a chunk of my free time talking about relationships and communication and other good stuff like that. The rest of my free time, such as it is, is more or less divided between online role-playing gaming (I'm the history and mortal administrator for an online pure-text roleplaying game based in Boston in the 1770s using WhiteWolf's World of Darkness background/gaming system), reading (I read a *lot*), music (I play harp, piano, flute, and I sing. I also play bassoon, but I'm in the process of selling mine) and learning a bunch more about Paganism and Wicca in specific.

I started learning about Paganism about nearly seven years ago, when I got to college and had Pagan friends. At the time, I was a very devout and active Catholic, so my reading was mostly because I dislike not knowing about things that are important to my friends, and because, well, I like knowing stuff anyway.

Over the years, I developed more and more frustrations with particular aspects of Catholicism (though I don't think it's a horrible religion, or that people who are Catholic are horrible people), and when I left college (I worked there for a year after graduation), I had a really hard time finding a parish which felt comfortable to me - I kept feeling isolated by the assumption that family assumed children, and that following social scripts was important (something I hadn't felt in college) as well as a variety of personal preferences and some political and ethical disagreements.

Since then, I took a year off religion entirely (practicing it, anyway, I kept thinking about it), and last fall started seriously looking into Paganism, and doing a lot more reading. I'm not entirely certain which direction I'm going with it yet, but I'm leaning towards Wicca or something based thereon.

I use the name Jenett for craft purposes/email lists/such boards. I can't guarantee that I'm the only one using it (but if you want to check I'm the same person as somewhere else, feel free to email me - jenett@gleewood.org or gleewood@gleewood.org both work nicely)

I use a different email address for Usenet postings - gwynyth@polyamory.org (mostly I post to the group alt.polyamory, but I've posted on occaision to alt.religion.wicca.moderated too.) and a different one for some email lists (gwynyth@drizzle.com)

I'm the co-administrator for the poly-religion email list (which is a *really* quiet email list meant for people to discuss religion in a polyamory-friendly environment, and to talk about the interaction of polyamory and religion in particular).

I'm also the domain owner for gleewood.org (my OSO also has site pages there), and have two Pagan relevant sites up there- one with detailed book reviews, and one with a study guide that I'm putting together to help me organize my learning and be a bit more structured about it. Due to life, and exhaustion and mild-illness (and the rest of my schedule) I'm a little behind where I want to be. (Though I'm delighted to see the review site mentioned here...)

The next month's study guide will be up by the next New Moon (April 23, I think... and probably up this week, if I can manage it) and I'm hoping for several new book reviews a week or two later (but between getting a take-home final tonight for my remaining class this semester, the OSO visiting for 10 days, and a visit out of town the weekend after *that*, I'm expecting to be rather busy until the beginning of May). After that, though, I should be able to keep putting up the study guide + 2 reviews a month (maybe more) throughout the summer. (Upcoming likely books are listed on the site, suggestions are welcome)

Um. I think that more or less covers everything.

:D Welcome to our family. Set yourself down on the
comfy thingy on bluecat's porch, and have a tall, cool
glass of lemonade. It's a botomless pitcher. :sunny:

 Well Met, Jenett

I see Mystique has offered you some Lemonade, the pitcher is as bottomless as the friendship and there is also a pot of coffee somewhere around the porch (full service porch, ya know ;) ).

Just sit back, relax and enjoy the company. We are a good bunch and a very diverse bunch as well. The diversity is one of our strengths  . Please just jump right in to any discussion you see, you will find we are not a very shy bunch either.

The humor can be strange (speaking for myself, of course ... c'mon, guys, gimme a break ;) ). But it's always fun.

See you already have your lemonade and a big comfy chair thingy.

Welcome to the porch. Please sit down and talk a while. BlueCat has already told you of our diversity and the fun times we have here. We are rather eclectic and have great discussions on a ton of issues. We write stories and poetry and talk about our pets.

Just an overall good group here.

Merry Meet and Blessings,
RnR

welcome aboard jennet, from the sound of that schedule you need some time to sit on a porch and drink lemonade.

(librarians don't know everything, but they know where to find out everything)
