Wow! He is really walking tonight. Saw him going from kitchen to dining room and ignored him, then Dax started following him and then got tired and followed him with his eyes... Then I saw him a couple of more times. Dax got bored and went to sleep...And no, I'm not scared. We've lived with him for 24 yrs. Sometimes we go months without ever seeing him, But his activity tonight is unusual..........Wonder what he is up to?

That was my first thought.........but I've tried to find out who he could be.......the people who owned this house before us actually live behind us. It's a corner lot so they are actually on another st. I asked them if anyone had died here, they said no......was chicken to ask if they ever noticed a ghost..........

I HATE it when that happens. Sounds like your is more amicable than the one we had at least. I ended up carring a pistol in my boot. [Like that would have helped. ]
Peace,

I've lived in a few houses that were already occupied :) When I lived in Germany, we lived in a really old house that I believe had more than one ghostly resident. I used to feel something tapping my shoulder... always had things moving around us... never anything too serious just the feeling that you knew they were around. I did occasionally see the faint shape or form of what looked like a girl in a long dress,,, it would fade in and out and always seemed to drift toward the hayloft attatched to our house. when I questioned my Landlady about it she told me that there had once been a fire in the house and a young girl had died trying to escape through the hayloft.
OW, it could even be someone who died on that land long before the house was ever built, but I guess if it isn't violent or anything, and you're used to having it around.... I wouldn't worry too much about it?? Flaire's right though, maybe it's some sort of anniversary or something has triggered it to be more active right now.

I'm glad I don't physically see them most of the time. At least I've gotten used to sensing them around me. They're everywhere :woah:

Sometimes he appears as real as a live person, or like last night he's your typical white misty thing.........But I feel ( can't explain it ) that its the same.....being.........I have a hunch just from the clothes he wears, he may be civil war period.......his clothes aren't exactly contemporary, but not frou-frou colonial either...could be turn of the century farmer............

are there any town archives you can look it up in? It will say any acidents, murders, suicides, etc, that happened on that property...
that would be neat to see... as long as it was not a harmful ghost. I have only 'felt' ghosts, never actually seen one... I don't think!

The house is 60 yrs. old and I'm the 2nd owner..........So I would have to do county records.......don't know where I'd find the time.........

I feel them all the time too. I am POSITIVE there is one in my house now. Sometimes I get scared, and other times I just know *something* is there watching me, especially when I'm in the LR on the computer. It's mainly that "being watched feeling" though I have seen shadows out the corner of my eye. My kitty usually knows when something's up & starts running around (i've also attributed that to the wee folk) & my dogs sometimes sit there & bark for no reason.
When we first moved in, is when I knew something lived there with us as well. I really thought a poltergeist, only because due to circumstances I share a house w/my Dad & his wife. His wife & I cannot stand each other, so there's lots of "negative energy". My son's morning, weekday routine is, he gets up to get ready for school & watches TV while he's eating his breakfast. Well, for the longest time, we would turn on the TV, he'd get up to go in the kitchen & the TV would just shut off! Other times, I would load the washer, close the lid, only to go to the laundry room to check on stuff & the lid would be open!!!! I finally did a "cleansing" to get rid of the negative stuff, nothing since has happened, but I still feel a presence from time to time.
My Dad also has a house down in VA, that house is haunted as well. But at least we sort of know who it could be. It seems the man who owned the house before my dad committed suicide there. When I actually go down there, I usually avoid going upstairs. I HATE it up there, I'm always frightened, though everyone else thinks I'm nuts.

At my friends place I had that too, the feeling of being watched. I had fallen asleep ont he couch and at 3am I had this huge feeling like that, and it also spoke to me... I thought it was my friends girlfriend, but then I realized it wasn't... a bit freaky, more annoying at 3am!
Old Witch, it would take a lotof time, I guess as long as he isn't bugging you, he's just existing, there's no issue... just spontaneous entertainment! :)

The whole family kinda wonders where he gets to when he's gone for a long time, we joke he goes to Fla. for the winter...............After 24 yrs., he's become a member of the family..............

Old Witch it's weird but the ghost in my house was being particularly active last night as well. Actually it might have been more this earlier morning because I didn't see him until I went to be and that was around 1 or 2 in the morning. I didn't think anything about it until I read your post. They're probably related in no way but it's still odd. Maybe it was a ghost holiday

We have a ghost, i prefer Spirit which has followed us in our last 4 house moves. So it is not the house that is haunted! Only my daughter and i see her, she remains invisable to my wife and son.
She is such a part of life, that i give her the occasional "hi", never get a reply though!

On occasion I feel a presence in my house and sometimes I see "it". It doesn't really bother most times but other times it just feels different.
LdyStarlite...I get the same thing when I'm on the computer and posted something about it a while back. I constantly get that feeling of being watched. The wall infront of my computer is mirrored and I sometime see something behind me as well.
sorry this is a little long...
My cousin used to live in Terra Hill Pensylvania and the first and only time (I refused to go back there) I went to his house (which was an old converted farm house) I got a real bad feeling the minute I walked in. When he gave me a tour of the house I freaked when I walked in one room. It was so cold and smelled bad too (no one else noticed this) inside the room there was a door which led up to the attic...well in that room there were about a hundred or so hooks (like coat hooks). We thought it was some kind of meeting room or something. Well the freaky room was the only spare room and hubby and I had to spend the night in it. During the night I felt something "roll" lightly accross the bed and when Ken yelled "what they f$#@ was that I lost it. We ended up crashing in the living room!! The next morning I went back up to change my clothing and when I tried to leave the room I could not get out...the door knob would not turn and I started banging on the door and screaming for someone to help me! I was so scared and heard this "humming" noise! finally my cousins wife came and just opened the door. It was not stuck and the door knob turned easily! We left to go home shortly after and never returned...they moved out two months later due to some other freakish events.

Her house isn't really old, it's about 100 years or so.
An elderly woman, Mrs. Snow, lived there all her life. She died cutting roses in the back yard. The house was sold a couple of times after that, but never occupied for long, then my friend bought it.
Her daughter was about eight when they moved in. She was the first to know there was a ghost in the house.
Mrs. Snow was easy to get along with as long as there was no tension in the house. :shift: She would occasionally oblige the household cat by letting him out -- through two doors.
She would also ring the doorbell now and then, flash lights in the living room, and walk up and down the stairs.
My friend said when she was working on renovating the kitchen, Mrs. Snow apparently didn't like something they were doing, so she kept hiding the tools. They found a hammer on the top shelf near the ceiling in the food pantry, a place they would never have thought of keeping a hammer.
There were also cold spots and shadows (corner of the eye) in the hallway.
My sister and an ex-boyfriend moved in with my friend for a short time while they were looking for an apartment a few years ago. Mrs. Snow had been really quiet, however she hated cigarette smoke, and she did not like the boyfriend.
The level of doorbell- ringing and stair-walking activity peaked sharply while they were there. The light bulbs in their room kept blowing out.
My friend's husband is an electrican by trade, and he never was able to find an answer as to why the doorbell or the light bulbs were doing those things.

Yes they do seem to get more active at times, don't they? When I was 13 my dad built an addition on our house using lumber from his childhood home which had partially burnt several years before. A hobo had been sleeping in an upstairs room in the empty house and his cigar or cigarette set the place on fire and he died in the fire. As far as I know nothing happened until I was about 20 and then I started hearing footsteps which went up the stairs in the original part of the house and then crossed the floor in the new addition and wiggled the door to my sister's bedroom. Why do you suppose he waited seven years to become active?
BTW, my sister heard the footsteps when she was upstairs in her room, I only heard them when I was in the living room downstairs, and my mom and dad swore they never heard them at all!
Also, when my ex and I moved into the house where we lived for 25 years we had a spirit living with us that we called Cousin Itt. I would see a shape like a dog or cat walk behind me when I was glancing in a mirror, or I would catch the movement out of the corner of my eye. Itt didn't bother me much, but the dog sure was interested in watching Itt, and my ex swore that Itt would play on his computer keyboard. When we opened a pagan shop Itt would go to work with us, and when my ex left me to live with his slut, Itt went to live with them.

I think I've got a wierd one... 8O I know certain parts of my house are really cold (like my basement..of course it's cold, but some places are colder than others)...and I often see things moving in the shadows down there. I've gotten used to it though. But lately, I've been feeling that there's something in my room as well ~ I believe I mentioned my "bump in the night" and I feel like I'm being watched when I sleep since that bump - also my room's been really cold, and I often get chills even when I'm under like 5 blankets. ;)
And then! (yes, then hehe :)) They say animals can pick up spirits better than humans can..Last night, my cat jumped up and stared at a closet for about a minute. Before that, she was sleeping nicely and such and such on my mom's bed, but suddenly she just jumped and stared. Odd... When I walked out of the room (by the closet), I could feel it being a bit colder there. :eyebrow:
I guess I got what I wanted?
