How long is it supposed to take for Reiki to work? I tried that free attunement from http://www.reikisecrets.com/, skeptically. I mean, I want it to work I'm desperate for it to work. My energies leak out of my head and hands. My mind is always floating around and I can never get anything done. I wake up late everyday, feeling as if I never slept. I have sinus problems, foot pain and other reoccuring problems that I'd like to have go away. I'm just really hoping that the site is not bs.

You should know that if you're looking for the attunement to make your symptoms go away, you're better off finding a Reiki healer. The attunement is like a giant detox and most people find they feel worse before they feel better as all the negative goop they have inside has to come out first. The Reiki heals the channel (you the healer) first.

Keishin, I tend to agree with you about the "live teacher" necessity, but distant attunements do work - I've experienced it. When done properly, the connection via the Web is simply used for making an arrangement for the attunement and for scheduling it. The attunement itself is done live, by intent.

Yes, I agree pretty much with what you;re saying here. The idea of a 21-day 'detox' isn't very accurate, though, in my opinion. My Reiki detox did not begine until months after a very effective first attunement... and it seems to return, in some form, at intervals, when I'm evolving into a new stage of things.

I received the attunement on the 9th of this month, so two days ago. I haven't noticed any change at all. The attunement goes through all three levels at once. Perhaps I'm expecting too much too soon, I'm just poor and desperate.

How did you receive it? Did you sit quietly in a meditative frmae of mind?

What I did was to sit for five minutes beforehand and, inwardly, express gratitude to Usui (the Japanese rediscoverer of Reiki energy, and the person who set this cycle of teaching off - back in the 1920s), I also expressed gratitude to the lineage of teachers between Usui and myself, especially Mrs. Takata (who brough Reiki to the Americas and to Europe), and to the person who was attuning me. I opened myself, inwardly, to the attunement process.

Then I sat quietly, in that open state, for an hour. (My Reiki master had said he would enter into a one-hour process... if he had said a half-hour process, I'd have sat quietly for a half hour.)

I should mention that, since I had quite a few years of previous 'deep-meditation' experience, I made sure not to go into so deep a meditative state that I was not receptive to energy being sent to me by someone. In any case, I sat for an hour.

Then I got up.

I could tell, very much so, that something had happened.

Ah, see. With that site, it says that they usually attune within 24 hours, but at least within two days. They give a link to to check to tell you if you've been attuned or not.

So, I just went about my business for the day and got a second email the next morning telling me I had been attuned.
