Bonnie Raitt sang about not being able to make someone love you if they don't, and about not being able to make that someone's heart feel something it won't. (This was me attempting to make a point without getting the Copyright Police mad at me again.)

If you don't love this person more than as a friend or brother, then you have to tell him so as gently as possible and as soon as possible. Don't keep him hanging on. By doing that, you're keeping him from going out to find one who can give him what you cannot.
