I don't have one of these but I am captivated by them. I know the gold sheen is especially good for scrying on top of the basic uses for regular obsidian. With my personality, I know I can really use it's properties of being an effective shield for negativity, grounding, drawing out mental stress, plus it being a detoxifier. I've read it can be quite a strong stone and is good for bringing truths to the surface (which could sometimes be bad ?).

Any problems with this stone to be aware of? Is snowflake obsidian better because it's gentler? I have a small one of those and it works well sometimes but other times I feel I need something stronger and I'd like a gold-sheen for scrying. I use white howlite too for it's calming & patience attributes but again, sometimes I feel something stronger is needed.

using a stone, especially golden obsidian for scrying hasnt ever worked for me because i use the object too look into, and gold obsidian has too much of a sheen on its surface.
i suppose if the stones small you have to worry about stepping on it, and if the stones big you should probably keep it in mind that it might hurt if it dropped on your foot, so in this way the stone can hold dangerous properties.
drawing out mental stress, well any object that you focus in on and concentrate on can hold those properties, do i think my fish tank is a great method of divination cause i sometimes see images in the lite water.. not so much thats just a overactive imagination.
looking at anything and being concious of your thoughts and relaxing the body doesn't mean that the object holds those properties, only that the object is plesant to look at.

I think its a beautiful stone. I dont know if I could gaze into it though for scrying; of course I have never tried to. IMO, for me personally I would be distracted by it.

You have to see what suits you for scrying. With quartz spheres ,some people like inclusions in them as it helps them see objects while others like it without any inclusions. So with gold sheen obsidian it's the same way. I only have a wand of gold sheen and not a sphere. Why not try to use it in a dimly lit place like only use candle light as the golden color doesn`t show up too much. Also looking at anything for divination is a good idea. I rarely scry anymore and the last time i did i used the enamel on toilet flush and got very accurate results in clairvoyance. It might sound ridiculous but it is true and worked.

lol agreed, one can use anything for scrying it doesn't have to be a spacific kind of stone or object thats traditionaly used for divination purposes.
ive found that looking at a blank wall, or looking at the big blue sky, or even looking at my shadow is a way of scrying, all work equaly well, all get the job done.
