Reversed Meanings a scam?

I have been being told that reverse meanings in a deck hold no merit and therefore shouldn't be used, everything should be looked at as an upright card. Thoughts?

I believe that reversed meanings are there for a purpose, and to contradict myself in the same sentence, I don't use them!

When I read for myself, I shuffle so I don't get reversed cards, ergo I don't read them! However, when I do readings for others they invariably reverse cards, and I teach my students reversed meaning for this reason.

No, an upright card is not positive and a reversed card is negative. That is a load of crap. If you look at the Fives, which are negative in and of themselves, you will find they are much more positive when reversed!

"Reversed?
There are no separate explanations for reversed cards. The meaning of a reversed card depends on what the card would mean if upright. A reversed card shows that a card's energy is present, but at a lower level. For some reason, the energy cannot express freely, normally or completely. It may be:
still in its early stages
losing force and power
blocked or restricted
incomplete
inappropriate
being denied
only present in appearance "

She has an excellent online course! I agree, I read reversed with "less energy" behind them than if it were upright. ;) ....that is, if I read them at all. Like Tarotbear, for myself, I shuffle so I don't get reversed cards, but when others shuffle....it's bound to happen. :sunny:

I read them reversed if they "want" me to; as in I'll ask if it should be reversed and see what kind of feeling I get. Usually I don't read them reversed, and when I do they indicate less energy (as mentioned), or a block or problem there.
