Hello, I'm Redbint and I have been a paganfor about 15yrs or so. I have spent the last decade or so researching witchcraft/ wicca as a way of helping myself to understand the different types/meanings - there are so many different branches!!
My close friends and family just call me the 'tree hugger' and think that my religion is just to do with recycling waste and hugging trees etc!
I have recently started on a Herbalisim course at my local college (which I'm finding quite useful already). I enjoy painting and sell my artwork in local shops in my home town. (which is a very slow process as people aren't really interested in vibrant paintings of goddess or elves!)
Well the boring bits are done, I hope I find this site friendly and of use, coz I'm always up for a bit of free advice and willing to listen to others peoples views and opinions.

Hi there and welcome!
:thewave:
I'd love to see your artwork - I think there's a subforum for that around here somewhere but as I am hopeless in art, I haven't used it. :)

"Tree Hugger" is a derogatory term applied to those who feel a kinship with nature and specifically woodlands. To some degree the term may date from a working class antagonism to what was perceived as (and sometimes was) ivory tower elitism of ecologists prior to the relations that Judi Bari and others tried to establish between the labour and ecology movements. In general, however, it is used as a term of ridicule for those who actually find spirit in trees.
