What sort of work out habbits do you have?

We go walking two to three miles every evening as a family. I do a strengthening workout three times a week and an abs workout almost daily. (I love to wear short shirts, so I have to keep my abs in shape.) ;)

If rollerblading counts as excersizing, then I excersize about everyday :$

I exercise almost every day. The word "exercise" sounds tedious in my opinion though. Most of exercise is fun and relaxing. For example, I love to go on walks and do yoga or pilates. I know you guys are going to laugh so hard when I tell you what else I love to do. Yep, that's right. My friends got me into that cheesy Tae Bo workout. Go ahead and laugh now!

Puh I don't know what's cheesy about it. It certainly isn't to be used as self defense, but it's great aerobics. I prefer Billy Blanks over Tony Little or Richard Simmons any day!

I feel so very blessed that I feel absolutely terrible if I don't exercise. I've been working out regularly since high school - for about 25 years. I used to aerobics, step aerobics and walking. I developed a serious spinal condition and needed to exercise to deal with the pain. I can no longer do anything high-impact and I really miss it. I began doing yoga about a year before my back surgery three years ago, and got back to it three weeks after having my L5 vertebrae literally nailed to my sacrum. I do vinyasa and ashtanga yoga, and with my disability I literally should not be able to do this type of workout. At 46, I'm more strong and flexible than many girls I know in their twenties. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year. This is a form of chronic fatigue syndrome with horrific pain flare-ups. Yoga also helps me deal with this. I also swim whenever possible. About a month ago, I found that I was finally able to return to working with free weights. I am only doing a fifteen minute workout and began to see results in two weeks. I read somewhere a while ago that once you have gotten into shape and stop and then start again, you can get back into shape in 1/3 of the time because your muscles have a memory. This seems to be true.

I voted "whenever" cuz I usually go out 4-5 times/ week on a walk/jog-type thing. :) Once the weather turns nicer I hope to get out and golf (for fun...:o I'm really bad :T) and rollerblade...

I'm a "whenever" too but it always happens that I do something each day. I love walking & do that each lunch hour at work. As well, on weekends, we go for a family hike at least once during the weekend. In the summer, I garden every day too. And I do yoga almost every morning & attend classes 2x a week. I fit in stuff all throughout my day...even if it's just a short walk at lunch.

:D And yet you're the mod for the Healthy Pagan  :D

I go to a class with those big rubber balls every week...only because I have to though (I'm doing an award at school, and we have to do 1 hour each week of exercise for 3 months  - but if we complete that then we get to go on an expedition out with tents and stuff...yey!)

The best thing about yoga is that certain poses can be done any time throughout your day!

I bellydance 2 times a week, possibly more with performances coming up, yoga once a week (trying for more once I move) and weights, abs and gluts at least once a week... depending on the other two.

I played sports all through high school and college. Then when I got to smart for school:rotfl: I quit and moved away which totally changed my lifestyle --- I partied all the time. But I still stay active what with the horses and all. Even after marriage and 3 kids I was still always active with the kids, the horses, and the jobs I had always were physical. Then to stay home w/the kids more I took a part time job at the local stock barn which was VERY ACTIVE! But unfortunately didn't provide a regular income....so a change in jobs....a customer service rep. Because of the money thing the horses had been turned out and it seems the physical activity came to a stand still and the eating habits got real bad. But as the finical situation improved I noticed that my body hadn't....SOOOOOO with the new year came the resolutions! I WAS NOT gonna buy new Wranglers! I eat well, and excerise everyday. (Now I'm gonna have to buy new -smaller- Wranglers!:boing: ) Another resolution was to start focusing on the horses again and be back in local small time competition by June --- gotta get the horses fit too!
So, if you've read this far can I ask a favor? Please send some positive energies, light a candle, say a prayer for me and my horses!
Gosh, sometimes I get so long-winded! I really was only gonna put that I excerised everyday - alternating walking and weights. But my fingers got started and I couldn't shut them up!:D :T :D :T

*smiles* At the moment I get to put once a week, because that's all I've done so far this week.
Though last week I managed it three times. That's a big deal for me.

I'm envious of those of you who've managed to develop a healthy habit and keep it. I was never very active as a younger kid, much prefering books to being outdoors. And let me tell you, now it's a really hard habit to get into.

A good habit though, if I can just stick to it. :D

I'm a daily person...unless I get severe migraine attacks, then I lay in bed the whole day. I run at least six miles a day on my treadmill, do weights and all...but I can never be consistent with sit ups!

I really, really, really want to start doing yoga but I feel as if every limb is SO heavy...grrrrr...how did you yoga people start? (maybe I should start another thread on this...)

I don't feel like I exercise as much as I should, but, that's just me. If I don't get out at least once a day, I go nuts.
I fence two days a week and do tai chi two days a week. I try and run at least once a week, but I'd love to do more. (I like being active, can you tell?)
I'm going to start training for a half marathon, just to see if I can actually do it. Plus it's a chance to get my mileage back up. :D

Oh my..........good one Witchy!

I've been fencing once and absolutely adored it. Unfortunately, it's a little expensive at the moment for me to take up, but I hope that sometime soon I'll be able to.

I went to a ballgame last night (baseball, Colorado Rockies, we won! :D) but we parked a good ways from the stadium and also walked up three flights of stairs and around the ballpark for the heck of it.

I missed my workout on Monday and was afraid I'd miss yesterday's too, so that was a nice surprise.

Are there any raquetball players here? I played in college and loved it. I haven't played since I left school. I'd love to play again, but I don't think there are any courts in my small town.

I'm quite proud of myself, I've been reading up on yoga and I've begun to practice twice a day. Normally I don't stick with things like this, but I've been going for 3 weeks now and I'm having a great time!

....Ball-Bhreac Ron....:) I'm proud for you!:) It always make you feel good when you set any kind of goal and then stick to it! YIPPPPPEEEEE for you:thumbsup: Keep up the good work!

Somewhere I posted that I wanted to be back in the arena by June. Well my plans have changed. I was starting to get discouraged because I was beginning to realize that even though our money situation is better.....the resources still aren't there for us to have our own truck and trailer by this summer....so I've decided just to get back into riding for pleasure....trail riding and such.
But what I'm excited about is that I've decided to play softball again. In church Sunday they announced they were gonna have a women's team in the church league again. (Apparently they haven't participated for a couple of years!) Sunday afternoon was the first practice! I'm so excited!:D I was a bit surpirsed at how sore I was today. After all the weight lifting and walking I've been doing. My husband said, "Yeah but that running's alot different!" Anyway, just thought I'd let ya'll know!

net ball is similar to basket ball but you can't run with the ball and there are a few more rules to it.

Oh, I don't know anyone who plays netball around here. People tend to play basketball.

I have been exercising a lot more lately. I like to do yoga in order to improve my flexibility, better my posture, and relax my mind. I also like to do some aerobic exercise. Since the weather has been warm, I tend to jog or walk. But here is my new, fun work out. Yes, I jump rope. It sure gets the blood flowing. Even though I do it for such a short period, I find fun. I guess it reminds me of being a kid out on the playground again. I totally recommend that short workout to you.

I'm so jealous of you guys!

I don't know where you get the time and energy to fit so much exercise into your daily/weekly routines. I always 'mean' to do stuff and then end up going to bed thinking - well there's always tommorow.........

I'm gonna try to fit yoga and T'ai Chi back into my life - you've shamed me with your healthy ways!!

I suddenly have more free time so that explains why I have more time to exercise. When I was super busy with work, I did not have much time to exercise. Actually, I did have free time to exercise; however, I chose to spend this time in another manner. If I did choose to do a nice workout, I always felt so rejuvenated. Try fitting a tiny workout into your day, Cybadiva, and perhaps your day will a longer since you have new energy. By the way, I don't neccessarily follow my own advice, but I should.

Yeah I could be doing a workout right now, but instead I'm sitting in front of my 'puter scoffing a fudge do-nut!! My complete lack of get-up-n-go never ceases to amaze me:D No seriously I'm going to try and fit a bit of T'ai Chi back into my daily routine - its a start anyway!

Tinika....what are these 'weird out' foods then? I'm curious now!!

I vote daily.... I take off one day a week. I force myself to get up around 4:45 and workout at 5am. I've tried doing it in the afternoons but by the time i get home after 7pm i have lots of excuses like, not enough time,im tired, too much to do,etc..... Making myself exercise first thing in the morning eliminates most those excuses. It only leaves me with only one excuse.... Im a lazy $#@@#$#. Thats a decent motivater cuz i have a hard time accepting that.

Workouts consist of alternating wieght training and cardio ussually.

I do qigong twice a day, which is kinda similar to taichi but slower. I am now cleared to start a walking program...which is exciting until I think of 110 degree heat....*sweats*. I will have to go to a mall to do this I think. At night it is in the 80s and a bit warm for walking just now.

For the most part, I find a formalized exercise routine far too tedious to stick to. I do better when I find an activity that I enjoy that just happens to be good exercise. For about ten years now I have been teaching myself swordplay. I would learn from someone else but there is no one in my area, so if I want to learn it I have to go it alone. My preferred weapon is the longsword, with blade lengths running from 36 to 40 inches or so. I study it from the perspective of an actual combat system rather than a sport. Why I do this, I do not know. It is completely impractical, but I have always had this bizarre compulsion to study swordplay from the perspective of someone who might actually use it. I can only attribute it to a holdover from a past life.

I usually take a few minutes to play with the weights at the cardio rehab areas of the hospital where I work and force myself to do a few things to the abs. My reasons for exercise really have nothing to do with health. It's more a matter of my pride and vanity conspiring to overcome my sloth and gluttony.

I am back into Yoga now...I had slacked for a long time on exercising like I should to keep my back in shape...now I ahve kicked myself into gear, and have started doing Yoga every other day! Plus some stretching exercises too...If I am gonna have babies in a couple months (no I am not pregnant, but we are practicing for now ;) ) I need to be in shape...that way they don't put meo nbed rest or anything...God forbid...I have a hard time sitting still when I am suppose too. WhenI had gall bladder surgery, even on percocet, I was unconfortable, but still did things, even thouogh I was not suppose to...put my recovery off by about a week. I also went back to work 5 days after my surgery...half days mind you, but I went cause you can't keept his hyper broad down! ;)

It's a mile to university. I walk there and back twice a day, and I walk fast. That's about as energetic as it gets for me at the moment, as I have a few health problems.

I do about 5-6 days a week, about 45-90 minutes each go. I've been doing weapon training for about 3 years now, and tend rotate what I practice with. Swords are my preferred weapons; I'm most comfortable with a katana, and study kendo and iaido, though I'm starting to work with Chinese longsword (I'm also a sword and board heavy fighter in the SCA, heh). I practice swords almost every day, but toss in some bo staff somedays as well. I supplement that with some swimming and weight training too.

I'm thinking about getting a membership at a gym...

...but I'm afraid I can't afford it, and once it leaks, people will tell me I'm anorexic. So I sit here by my computer and exercise my brain instead... ;););)

I voted Whenever...because my exercise days are random.

It's whenever i can fit in the time since I've got school and work.

And I'm proud of myself for getting in 10 days of exercise in the month of March... that was hard to do. I'll try for the same or better this month. :)

Once school is over, I'll have much more time to devote to exercising ... in which case I'd do 5-6 days of exercise per week....various stuff...aerobic and strength tapes at home, walk/jog in the park, dance to music.

I have a gym membership... but it's a waste...they never have good aerobic classes during the times I can go and the gym is 30 mins away from my house and work so it's not convenient. I think I'll ditch the gym membership... I get more exercise at home on my own anyway. :D

I combined my work-out with commuting. I cycle to work every day - 15 kilometers (10 miles) one way. I realise that distance in 25 minutes.

Apart from that, I play some woodwind instruments four times two hours a week, every musician will agree that's a sport in itself.

And since my backbone is a little too flexible, I must train my back muscles just to stick together:D

I've recently (within the past week and a half) begun exercising daily.

I've started the Atkins diet about 2 1/2 weeks ago, then started exercising a week after that. I'm also taking 1 Stacker 2 per day (it gets me up and motivated). I'm doing the Slim Down bellydancing video tape, it's kinda fun... I'm trying not to hate them too much.

So far I've lost 8 pounds!

Due to my recent health problems that all sprung up this past year, I have had to start exercising more. I now walk a minimum of 3 miles a day (the dog is LOVING me these days! :rotfl: ) and I do Yoga 6 days a week. I really miss going to the gym, but right now, what i'm doing is just enough without overdoing it, and i'm pretty happy with my daily routine. Sunday I slack off a bit. I only walk about a mile and that's it for exercise that day.

I love Yoga...the stretching to me is more satisfying to me than any of the tiimes I went jogging, walked, high impact Aerobics..etc. ANd I am sticking with it this time too. I look ofrward to my Yoga whenever I do it! I am hooked. My mother got me into Yoga when I was like 5 or 6. I never remembered the moves, but realised when i got back into it like 11 years later..I had not forgotton a thing!!!!

I voted everyday before I realized that everyone's definition of excersise is not the same as mine LOL. I do not have an excercise rutine. But I have to clean the house, run up and down the stairs all day to make sure that the kids aren't into anything dangerous while they play and I walk everywhere I go. I concider that my exercise :p
