Okay, so I'm posting this here, in Pagan Family, because the movie I saw was a great family movie.
I took my son to see "The Rookie" today. We enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching my son stare up at the screen, being shown that dreams do come true.
The movie is based on a man, Jimmy Morris, who tried out for the Big Leagues way past his prime (i belive he was 40-something) and MADE it...even though 20 years earlier...he got hurt and supposedly ended his career. He made a bet with the high school baseball team that he coaches, so that the boys would become inspired and win. Win they did, and Coach tried out. He pitched for the Devil Rays for 2 seasons.
It was a good movie. Lots and Lots of kids were in the theater today as well, many of them little boys in Yankee caps and little league shirts.
If you have kids who love sports, bring'em. Even if they don't love sports, bring'em. They'll appreciate the message of following your dreams, and that anything can be accomplished when you have love & support.
