Hi all. Just curious, is anyone familiar with a wild edibles or herbalism (medicinal and edible uses) program? I'm looking for a take-home program so I can work at my own pace. Preferably, a wild edible study is what i'm looking for since I favor harvesting my plants from the wild and the woods over buying them. Thanks!

I believe the best way to learn about herbs and edible plants in your area is to find someone who knows them and can show you. Books are fine as a back up, but to have someone take you and show you where and how something grows is the best way. I learned from my grandfather and a few other people who came after him.

However if an online course is all you can get... I typed in "Online classes, wild edibles" and got some hits.

You might want to see if a park service or university extension class is available. I took a mushroom class that way.

As for Herb classes, I believe they are getting one together here at MW! :)

Good Luck!

Thanks :). Yeah, at the moment I've learned all the trees and plants by simplying spending time in the woods every day with field guides. I suppose that's the best way I can do it since I have to go about it solo.

Well, I like "courses" because they help get me motivated. It's difficult to constantly push myself to go out learning things..
