Zephyrstorm mentioned Stephanie Pui Mun Law's Shadowscapes tarot in another thread and I mentioned the Mary-El Tarot.

There are so many great decks out there that aren't published yet and some are still in the process of being made!

Let's start talking about them and get those publishers to notice!

I don't know that this one will ever be published, but I hope so:

The Gaian is another that I'd like to have, but I just can't afford the price she's wanting for the Majors Only. *sigh*

That Slavnik Icon one is very interesting! I had not seen it before. I you gotta love those wombats! LOL Have you seen the Ferret Tarot? Very cute. Maybe tarotgarden has some left.

Here is one by Kiama over on Aeclectic. I sincerely hope she gets it published. There are so many goddess oriented decks out there. She has taken a great approach to creating this and I think it rocks. I give you... the Sol Invictus Tarot: http://www.godtarot.com/

And the Amun Ra has to be one of my all time faves: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/418/index.shtml#cards

But I believe the artist will not publish it. It was an experiment, really, from what I understand. :) A gorgeous experiment though!

And I can't help but plug my good friend Tom! He makes the Tarot Lover's Calendar every year, that includes spreads & unpublished decks (I help every year with gathering the spreads & some of the images). He has been working on a photographic deck that will probably never be for sale, but it is interesting to look through, nevertheless. And.... I happen to be on the Princess of Swords card. Ooh, I am drooling over the Stephanie Pui-Mun Law deck. I've been a fan of her art for a long time! My new goal for myself is to become proficient enough in reading the Tarot to justify purchasing that deck by the time it comes out. That should be pretty easy to accomplish, since it looks like it won't be published until next year at the earliest...

As a tarot enabler, I will tell you that one of the better ways of ensuring that you reach that level of proficiency is to take AR's class. See all the banners that say TarotClass.com? AR is a great teacher and her class rocks! :)

I have 2 Tarots that I am looking to get published - The Antidiluvian & The Metaphorical. If anyone is interested in seeing images, let me know. OH! - The Antidiluvian IS being "published" by a very small private press run by 1 guy. :D I have had proofs & they are beautiful; I am looking forward to seeing the full deck! But, I'd LOVE for this to get wider circulation through a bigger company.

The Antidiluvian WAS "The Ancient Celtic"; I changed it because there isn't much "oomph" in that title. Its imagery is of ancient Celtic artifacts fit into the design & imagery of the Tarot; it is loosely a "RWS"-type Tarot.

The Metaphorical is going to be more complex. It is based upon Old Masters & Alchemical imagery; I am doing it in egg-tempera & gold leaf on blank Tarot cards. I am also designing large-scale, multi-panel paintings based upon the same imagery; the cards will be similar but adapted to fit the card format.

:)

I am excited about the Metaphorical - just as soon as I finally have the paints & have something to show, I will post! :D

As for the Tarot of the Ancient Celts (its name, permanently & definitively, now! - no more changes!!), I am working away at it; my publisher needs to replace his printing press, but since I'm starting school (I believe!) in March, I will have to have the entire thing done & off to him by mid-March. So I'll let y'all know. :)

And another bit of lovely: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/north-star-ursa/index.shtmlOh, wow. Those are fantastic. Also, I accidentally clicked the "get reading" link (when it popped up I had no problem realizing what it was about, even though I didn't have a question in mind, because I've been thinking about it constantly for the past week...::sigh::), and...man, I hate it when the cards tell me things I already knew but didn't want to hear - especially when they give me the advice pretty much unsolicited.

http://www.artmajeur.com/?go=artworks/display_mini_gallery&login=danu&mini_gallery_id=1095465&artist_id=30529

I just realized that I neglected to post a link here. :)

Just as soon as I have anything done on the "Metaphorical", I will be posting another gallery & I'll come back with a link.

I DO have a mahvelous dahling start on the 1st large painting, "The Fool". I plan on metal-leafing (gold being just TOO TOO prohibitively expensive! ;) ) the background, & he will have a screened-on, utterly GORGEOUS title, I'm leaning toward crimson as the color for all the titles, card & painting - they are done on my computer in the TO-DIE-FOR utterly GORGEOUS font called "7-Waves-Sighed-Salome", for the capitals; & a really good Gothic font for the lower-case. There is this 1 font of which I am inordinately fond, called "Ardenwood" or "Ardenwood Demo"; it consists of lower-case, I love it paired with the "7WSS" however it is full of all these flowery scrolls, & you can't read it very well + I am worried about the final result of the screening process.

So that's it in a nutshell!

I am also doing drawings for the last few cards in "TTOTAC"; that one won't be done until probably close to summer because of 1) having too many other things to do & 2) because my publisher just had his printing-press die on him a bit ago. :(

I'll keep peeps posted here! :D

Blackroseivy's deck looks gorgeous and so appropriately...courtly! (just a made up compliment that means romantic and old-fashioned)...

I searched the thread, but didn't see a mention of an oracle deck that some liked...the rest of the original deck that was supposed to be the 'complete' Well-Worn Path...named the Hidden Path:

http://www.ravensloft.biz/items/divination/hidden-path-oracle-deck-cards-teach-divination-detail.htm

A kind person had told me about Mysticwicks and the Well-Worn Path deck years ago, so I thought it would be very neat to post about this upcoming successor...since that deck led me to this wonderful forum...

Best wishes,

Hi Damselfly!

I just wanted to let you know that we have a topic for The Hidden Path here on Mystic Wicks in the Tarot forum! http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=154116

Raven Stephanie and I are really excited about this deck. They are a basically an companion deck to The Well Worn Path building 40 mystical teaching on to the 40 original foundational teachings of the first deck. The cards are the same size and the back is the same, so they can be shuffled right into The Well Worn Path or used separately if you wish. I worked to keep the same feel to the art, and you will see that it is the same world of The Crone of the Cottage from the first deck.

Thanks for posting the ravensloft link, they can be pre-ordered there. There is also more information and sample cards at these two sites...
http://www.wellwornpath.com
http://www.mickiemuellerart.com

We expect the release this fall!
How great to hear from you again!
Blessings!

Mickie

Far Sight Tarot (http://www.aeclectic.net/cgi/buyframe.cgi?type=deck&id=5082)

This is the Deck of the Week over @ Aeclectic. Can we say "stunning"?

I listed it here because it is only in a limited edition run and at AU 170 is a bit rich for most of our bloods, I think. Perhaps some day it will be more readily (and affordably) available. We can hope!

The Mystic Faerie tarot by Linda Ravenscroft should by now be @ your local stores, since it has been out for a month or two.

And as an update on the Graven Images Oracle... it has a release date of Oct. '07! Woot! http://www.gravenimagesoracle.com/

Fantastical Creatures just says "Summer of '07" http://www.lisahuntart.com/

The Necrnomicon Tarot looks really interesting. It is due out in Sept. '07 and the artist's website is here: http://www.annestokes.com/ I am in LOVE with her Medusa, I bought the print & need to frame it.

So many wonderful new decks this year! Woot!

Hi again people, I just wanted to put in here that I am in the beginning stages of my photographic deck - the same concept I had, only interpreted in 3 dimensions instead of 2. Namely, it will "hug" the Visconti for the Majors, though with variations on the theme & original compositions included; & the "RWS" for the Minors. All very Med/Ren! - & yet, a very modern, computer-enhanced interpretation, as well! :D

When I'm ready to put up a website & approach publishers, I'll give everyone a peek. :)

Oh - & I put this into a separate thread because I didn't see this one - oopsie! :p

I am so in love with Marchetti's deck in progress. There's also a short video at youtube.

There's also a beautiful meditation deck called Wisdom of the Crone. Uses photographs of women over 50 for the images. There are decks for Maiden and Mother as well. But as I'm a crone, that's the one for me!!

Midnight Soul Tarot:

Although the deck images look very busy, they are amazingly beautiful and sweet nonetheless. I quite like it at the moment, not sure if I'd get it though. The Ace of Wands is absolutely breath-taking! *sighs*

Wow! I like it! It is very busy, but I've found myself more & more attracted to those kinds of decks (Pearls of Wisdom) because you can always find something new to look at in each card.

Thanks for bringing this one to my attention, I'll be keeping an eye on the progress. :)

Haha, you're so right about finding something new to look at in each card! :D I never used to love decks like that but I've slowly developed a liking for them.

And hey, you're welcome. :) I'm currently in love with it, lol. It's just so.. sugary.. sweet... *sighs* I love the name for the deck too - Midnight Soul. It sounds so evoking and inspiring. I still can't get over the beauty of Ace of Wands in this deck.

You can view bigger images of some of the cards here:

A deck I've been anxiously awaiting for years should be coming out very soon!

Paul Huson's Dame Fortune's Wheel Tarot! I absolutely loved his book "Mystical Origins of the Tarot: From Ancient Roots to Modern Usage" and always enjoyed his "Mastering Witchcraft" as well.

I was so happy when Lo Scarabeo decided to publish it. It's a great mix of traditions. Here's what the blurb says about it:

"Paul Huson, the author of Mystical Origins of the Tarot, has tracked down the true origins of tarot's esoteric symbols and images. Dame Fortune's Wheel Tarot is the companion deck to Huson's revered research into the mysteries of tarot. Bearing Etteilla and Marseille design and fully illustrated minor arcana, this classical deck promises a personal journey toward inner truths that will also enrich your understanding of tarot."

So it should be out in the USA in a month or 2. I would assume it's out in Europe already? Only because all Lo Scarabeo's releases are always out sometimes 6 months before they arrive in the US. But I haven't seen or heard a thing about it. I have check Alida, a wonderful Italian Tarot dealer that always gets Lo Scarabeo's releases right away...not there yet. Hmmmm.

In the olden days, when I had the green thing called MONEY, I would have ordered right from Italy, but alas it'll be awhile before I can jump on any new releases.

Here's an interesting one that I came across today:

http://thealchemicalegg.com/VampTarot.html

The Vampire Tarot by Robert Michael Place. He has done a couple of others too, including the Alchemical, I believe. The images are great, very wood-cut looking. And the way he's incorporated teh dracula story into the cards is pretty cool, I think. Enjoy.

I want Stephanie Pui-Mun Law's tarot deck for over a year now. I'm still waiting for her to finish them!

http://www.shadowscapes.com/Tarot/index.html (http://www.shadowscapes.com/Tarot/index.html)

FFFFFFFffffffffff. I was looking for that! I couldn't remember anything about it except that someone on MW has an avatar with part of her Death card on it, with the Phoenix. Thanks for saving me all kinds of trouble! Lol. :]

Woot!

. . . . .

I think I'm in love. And, part of why is because the Gilded Tarot was/is my first deck, and I fell in love with that one, too. I can see similarities, but the differences are also refreshing and very attractive. ARGH GRABBY HANDS ... gotta wait until the regular edition becomes available, though. I so cannot afford the ~$300 price. o____o

Oh, I soooooo lust after that Legacy deck. But I too must wait, impatiently, for the regular edition, although I can understand why some would pay for the special eidition. There are several versions of some cards within the special edition deck, which means that the chances are quite good that you would end up with a unique deck if you can afford the dollars.

*sigh* I am willing to settle for the standard deck!

Oh yes!! I've been waiting for his Vampire Tarot to be published for years. He was finished with it completely in 2006 then ran into a bunch of snags. The biggest one being that a few of the people he used in his court cards kept refusing their permission, finally he scrapped them and redid those cards. The biggest party-pooper was Anne Rice. Now that she's all about being a perfect Catholic, she won't be associated with vampire stuff anymore.

I wonder if she gave up the millions she's earned from those books and movie deals? Stephen King was originally in the courts as well but for some reason didn't grant permission either.

Anyways....this deck and book looks to be powerful! You're right, he has done many decks...Alchemical (recently re-released as the Alchemical:Renewed), Angel Tarot, Tarot of the Saints, Buddha Tarot.....

His book "The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination" is also an excellent and in-depth research and look in the history of Tarot. Great ideas for reading and studying.

I can't believe the Vampire deck & book is coming out next month (late June).....hard for me to believe after years of delays!

The suits are: Stakes (Wands), Holy Water (Cups), Knives (Swords) and Garlic (Pentacles). He's used authors, charcters in literary works in the courts and Franz Liszt the composer is in the courts as well. I love the fact he has Pixie Smith as Queen of Holy Water!

LOL, I wonder if she refuses the royalty checks from all those books, the movies, and merchandising then.

Aw, it did get canceled (http://marygreer.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-tarot/). I checked the amazon link and only saw get notified when available....I didn't think that would mean indefinitely.

That's ashame as it was near complete. Maybe it will be published someday.

Both Legacy of the Divine and The Fairy Tale Tarot by Lisa Hunt are now available from Amazon and the usual other sources....since about 2 weeks ago! They showed up on the market quite early!

Tarot Garden doesn't have them in stock yet, but I had pre-ordered both the Legacy and Fairy Tale late last year from Amazon and received both on my doorstep a little over a week ago! I am beyond enthralled with the Fairy Tale....it's exquisite and amazing. The book itself is a work of art as well! It hasn't left my side since I opened the package. Also there is a deep discount ordering from Amazon....I saved about $13.00 for each set...so $26 in total with my pre-order. But even ordering now you can save just as much $$.

The Legacy of the Divine I left in the package, my birthday is tomorrow and I saved it to open as a "present" for myself....so excited!!

But The Fairy Tale Tarot is truly something magical, rare and beautiful.....very meaningful and deep.

I am interested in the Tyldwick Tarot (which I started a separate thread on.)

I am also looking to buy the new Lo Scarabeo Heart Tarot. Even though it seems a tad twee with the heart shape, I respect the artist Maria Distefano and have her other deck the Circle of Life Tarot.

She's bound to do something different, which I'm keen to see.

The creator of the Phantomwise deck sold a novel, which, yay for her, but she's been quite clear that the deck is being put on hold indefinitely while she focuses on publication.
