View Full Version : Ethics or Logistics?

So I have a question for the rest of the empaths out there (or anyone really).

The Background info --
As an empath, I have the unconscious ability to pick up others emotions, to the degree that sometimes I'm not sure if my emotional state is my own or from someone else. I am also a solitary. The only coven I "belong" to is a cybercoven so I don't really work magick with other individuals present. I haven't done any spells in a few years due to various circumstances but have been thinking about getting back into it. I've come to some realizations about my emotional gift and how to seperate my emotions from other incoming on the radar which brings me to the question.

Is it ethically or logistically possible for me to add more emotional power to my spells by pulling (or allowing myself to feel the appropriate emotions of others for the spell) from those nearby?

I'm referring to random people who are currently sending out the spell appropriate emotional vibes into the ether, not people who are conscious of the spell I'm working on.

Any thoughts?

I'd say that it depends on the manner your talent works. Would you just gather emotions that float around in the air, or would you actually try to tap a certain person's emotional energy?

The latter might be dangerous -you never know who is a psychic who can detect what you are doing and thinks you need to be kicked away.

my practice within empathy has been for the past several years learning to quite literally switch places with the person or group im feeling emotions from, just for clarification this does include more then just peoples emotions but environment as well.

the begining of this technique is learning to manipulate and work with the emotions others send outside of themselves.

by the way youve phrased your question, im quite certain that youve probably started seeing how the "paths" of emotion can be followed to the source, if so following that path should bring about clairvoyant experiences that can be further manipulated.

mtpathy,
It's ironic that you post a reply to this, a year and a half after I wrote it. Further irony, I'm no longer in OKC (feeling homesick though) and choose today of all days to drop in on MW after being off for a year.

I'm not quite sure I understand your reply. If I remember correctly, I was having neighbor issues and thinking of pulling on the general emotion to add power to what I was working on. I still haven't done any real spellwork in a couple years, my path has been in a different direction but this place still feels like home.

I think we met at one of the OPERA things, at Nature's Treasures or perhaps Once Upon a Silver Moon?

Thanks for replying!

You don't pull emotions from someone, you mirror them.

Emotions exist within the being, they don't move around like ghosts.

the majority of empaths ive come across experience empathy through emotional cues not visuale, so i can understand why your statement was made.

i experience empathy through visuale cues first, i then correspond colors i percieve to vibration i feel then put this into the context of emotion.

so wether its a trick of my own perceptions or not, i still work with and experience emotions as being a extension of will therfore outside of self.

Empaths require neither visual or emotional cues. They experience it in a psychic sense.

But what you say makes sense, Visual and and emotional cues are conduits as well.

Not all of us are empaths by nature. (And most who are, in my experience, would prefer not to be.) If you're setting out to learn the ability of empathy, the visual and emotional cues are your best bet to start comparing and identifying your emotions.

Do you have a problem? Are you confused? I'd be happy to enlighten you. All you need to do is ask.
