Does anyone else hate when you move that your place gets shown by the LANDLORD, and you are supposed to take off?!
It's almost like saying... "here this is where I live, see what I have, and please, feel free to come and rob me or take that little nik nac from my shelf since you like it so!"
I have to go through it now for the 3rd weekend in a row... and am not too happy about it... :dis:
Rant for the day! ;)

Don't they have to give you notice when they bring people through? I don't think they can MAKE you leave but it's usually a courtesy that you do.

Yeah, you don't have to leave if you don't want to. It is awkward for them to do it with youthere, but so what. It is your home right now, you have the right to be there while strangers come and go. ;)

I know what you mean Xander. The place I live in, I've been in for 3 years and there have been 2 landlords... the first one was sucha spineless piece of work, and this one is totally business but selfish business, anything for a buck... so I wouldn't put it past him to say "here, take this candleholder, as long as you take the place it's yours!"
I feel obligated to leave becasue I only gave him 45 days notice and he didn't try and push it that I'd owe him another months rent...
And the place is not the best place, it's a basement and there are mice in the ceiling, there always have been and always will be, and the neighbours are aweful, etc. etc....
and I can't lie, so if they ask me why I'm moving, I'd have to run away screaming... not good! ;)

I would not leave the house while others are there, and I would
point out the things that need fixing. Landlord doesnt like it, tough!
It is legally your place as long as the rents been paid and you are
not in violation of your lease. You dont even have to let them
show the house, thats just being polite. Anyone entering your
house without your permission is breaking and entering, even if
you are the renter and the landlord comes by.(been in court on
one of these cases)

Actually flar, in Ontario the Landlord Tenent Act states that the landlord is allowed in your place, without notice even, to rent it out. (I've had run-ins as well...)
And to talk badly about it would only mean more people coming through and placeing more stress on me... I just want it rented so I can be left in peace! ;)
