Letters From Cleo and Tyrone: A Feline Perspective
on Love, Life, and Litter
by L. Virginia Browne and Linda Hamner
The next time you sit down at your computer and hear,
"You've got mail," the e-mail in question might not be for you. Cleo and Tyrone, the feline correspondents of Letters From Cleo and Tyrone, prove what all us cat
owners have always suspected: Cats not only play with
the mouse, but they can, and do, use it to log on.
Cleo and Tyrone, two cats who conduct a torrid, but
hilarious, long-distance love affair via e-mail, fill this
book with wonderfully catty comments on human and
feline life.
What makes this book so right? Browne & Hamner
know cats inside and out and present their knowledge in a fresh format. The e-mails about Christmas trees(and
their ultimate demise) from a feline perspective are
alone worth the price of the book.
While reading it, I laughed so long that my cats came
into the room, wondering what was so funny. Or,
perhaps they just wanted to log on the computer to
check their own e-mail.
St. Martin's Griffin, $15.95

Angel Whiskers:Reflections on Loving and Losing a
Feline Companion
edited by Laurel E. Hunt
The death of a beloved feline is always a heart-wrenching experience. But support can come from a
variety of sources--family, friends and books. Hunt, who
a few years ago, edited a similar book for dog lovers
titled Angel Pawprints.
Many books are now available to help people with a
pet's death, but Angel Whiskers is different from the rest. While most pet loss books are psychology-based,
Hunt's book is an anthology of prose and poetry by and
for those who have experienced pet loss. Works by
well-known authors such as Cleveland Amory and
Thomas Hardy share these pages with lesser-known
(but worth knowing!) writers. Another nice touch is the
vintage photographs of departed felines.
Angel Whiskers is a wise, comforting book that will
encourage people to acknowledge their grief and come
to terms with it. Highly recommended!
Hyperion, $17.00

The Walrus on My Table: Touching True Stories of
Animal Healing
by Anthony Guglielmo and Cari Lynn
The story of Mickey the cat is one of the funniest.
The Walrus on My Table is fascinating and informative,
and the writing reflects Guglielmo's obvious love for his
furry and finned clientele. This caring and humorous
book will appeal to readers who love felines and the
other creatures who share our planet.
St. Martin's Press, $22.95
