I have a friend who is going through a divorce. The man she is divorcing is in position with relativly everyone in high power in our area ( state, governement and community ). He is ruining her reputation by spreading lies. She asked me about a spell to bind him from telling lies about her. The only place I knew to go is MW.

I love this place! ;)

Please help if you can... or email me at Nissala@mywicca.com

Thanks everyone! *hugs*

Here are two recent threads from people in similar situations. Perhaps there may be something here that can help you. Also, check out the Rune magic thread at the top of this forum too. I

I find the mirror spell quite effective.

Usually binding spells are a bad idea. Often they end up binding the person to you, or their karma and life to yours. Often they can go a different way then you think, giving unexpected results, or rebound on you karmically. I think a lot of people have the wrong idea of a binding spell, probably because the way it's portrayed in the media.

The first thing I have to say (and I know this sounds harsh) is who cares about her reputation? Who cares what people think about her? Maybe she should move out of the area if she has to, it might help her get through this anyway. I mean I realize it stinks that he's doing that, but is it really worth her time to get that upset over something that seems to me not too important? Obviously these people, if they believe him, weren't her friends anyway. Maybe she should get a job elsewhere or move back with her family or some friends for awhile. I realize this is upsetting but do you really want to possibly receive karmic backlash over this? You wouldn't catch me doing a "negative" spell for someone else ever; it's impossible to know all the little circumstances and nuances involved.

However, this is your choice, so I'd say the better idea is to do a "stop gossiping" spell. You could think of correspondences that remind you of someone not saying nasty things. Usually the best spells are ones you write yourself. You might also try a banishing spell to banish his negative energy from her life, or like Wildchild said, a mirror spell; that'll return his nasty energy to him.

That said, there's a simple stop gossip spell in Teen Witch by SRW that includes very cheap materials and seems to be fairly effective without being harmful. You might check that out.

Advice taken and heeded. I did not mean to insinuate that I would be doing the spell for her, she asked me about one that she could do herself. I will pass on the information to my friend and the advice. Thanks for all you do Wildchild and Myst, the two of you are very kind and helpful always!

The mirror spell is good because it sends the negative energies back. No more, no less. That way, you're not tying your own energies to the person. If they send good thoughts, that would also be reflected back as well.

Freezing spells are usually quite effective. Some people consider them binding spells. With these, you really have to be very careful of the wording of your spell. Leave no room at all for misinterpretation. Don't use generalizations or metaphors as these can be easily misinterpreted. I would definitely recomend checking & re-checking the wording several times before trying it.

Placing a sample of a person's handwriting and copper tightly in an old bell jar is a way of stopping gossip. When the danger is over, burn the handwriting.

My grandmother told me about that when I was in high school when a few particular nasty rumors were spread about me and it did work.
