Anybody listen to music>

I do. Great stuff and very soothing.

I'm just as eclectic in my musik as I am in practice. but I thought to share with you all some of my fav's.

Love Loreena McKennitt (anything)
Any Bagpipe music
David and Steve Gordon (drummers)

The Gordons tend to suit my Shaman side. If you like Drums and Flute, check out "Drum Medicine" by these guys. It's great.

So who are your favorites?

I'm not the only one that listens to Loreena McKennitt's work! :D

I'm also a huge fan of the Chieftians, anything celtic, and classical. If I'm in the right moods, I'll listen to techno, classic rock and roll, and occasionally I'll even listen to country.

Just don't tell my mother that I do that, or she'll start insisting that I'm trying to become her or something. The only thing on that list that she doesn't listen to is the Loreena McKennitt. <lol>

I also listen to Loreena :)

But I like a lot of stuff. I am a big ZZ Top and Doors fan, I just don't handle C/W very well.

My tastes depends on my mood.....when I want to relax I need classical, when I want to feel carefree and reckless I'll listen to pop, when I'm moody and really want a depressing time, I'll listen to country lol, then there's the 'bad-girl' syndrome that I get sometimes when I want something like Candlebox, or NIN.

My fav of hers is off of the "The Book of Serets" CD called Marco Polo. I play that over and over when the mood strikes. Drove to Nevada a few weeks ago - Nevada is about 50 rewinds away from me. LOL

Another group that I really like is Rush. Being a drummer, Niel Pert is my hero.

CDB, (Charlie Daniels Band) that's C/W ... nope, don't, like I said, I don't handle C/W very well, I should have said not at all. ZZ Top is the closest I can possibly get to it.

I love her too.

Stevie Nicks has also been one of my long time faves since childhood. My sister introduced me to Fleetwood Mac and I have been hooked ever since.
I listen to just about everything.(don't care for the really "rap" stuff) Other than that, I like it all.

Thought CDB and ZZ were classified Southern Rock. Used to love CDB myself but a couple of year ago he turn "Super Christian" which isn't a big deal but his music suffered. Now he only does county fairs. Sad really. :(

Then again, I like Brian Setzer and his orchestra. I have actually jammed with him. Real nice guy. Remember him?

I have a CD called 'Celtic Woman' which is a compilation CD. It has a couple of Loreena McKennitt tracks on it and I love it!!

Another CD I play quite a bit is Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble. Its quite an amazing collection of music.

My all time favourite artist though is Van Morrison. Very sexy voice ;)

Lately I've really gotten into Emerald Rose. They have a bit of diverse range, celtic, pop, chants, ballads, very pagan. Their songs get stuck in my head. They have this one pop song, which is the only pop song I like, called Pagan Girl. It always makes me happy! Check them out at www.emeraldrose.com they have a link to their mp3 site where you can hear/download their music (I love DSL :) ) and have the lyrics to all their songs on their site.

I can't stand C/W it drives me nuts!!!

I see I've got to listen to L. McKennit, does she have a web site?

besides that I like alternative, classical, and 80's new wave/alt. I was one of those heavy into The Cure.

Hey you Aussies! Who is Wendy Rule? I hear she's coming to the states and we might get her here in Dallas.

You like Phoebe Snow too?? That's too cool. Has she done anything lately. Last I heard her do was a coffee commercial but she has a great voice. Had one of her tapes but don't know what happened to it.

Also liked Tim Curry in the early 80's. Aside from Rocky Horror, he had a couple of tapes out.

I also like Enya and I have David & Steve Gordon's Sacred Earth Drums which is a family favorite. I also enjoy Gary Stadler's Fairy of the Woods--very ethereal and soothing. Plus Stevie & Fleetwood Mac, traditional celtic harp & recorded sounds like chimes, streams, the woods, etc...

I see that I run away from the computer for a little bit and I miss most of the conversation. <laughs> I think that my fave of Loreena's work is probably a toss up between two songs. There's her one called Moon Cradle. I forget what CD that's on, but I'm about to steal my beloved's copy of the CD. <grins> Also, I love what she did with Greensleeves on her CD The Visit. :)

Hey, who here also likes CCR? <grins> I may not have been around at the time that the stuff was played on popular radio stations, but my parents raised me on southern rock and classic rock. :D

I suppose when you work around those type of folks you come to think of them as just part of the job and it never occurs to you how special they are because to you they are just people you meet at work.

I mean, for some of us, people Like John Napier and Andrew Bridge are bigger celebs than most performers.

Not trying to be cool, Mystique, but that's also part of growing up in the West Texas/Eastern New Mexico area. Sometimes we take it for granted, I am sure there are folks in other areas of the country that are the same way.

I was in a local group here called Zookepper. Other locals I liked were El Groupo Sexo and The Swamp Zombies. The Zombies were pretty cool because they were all acustic. They played at a lot of art shows.

so open and welcoming, do you find that having a capricorn
moon is an extraordinarily sensitive experience, contrary to the

very similar to what is commonly called the "cancerian thing" in which there is a sheltering

Like most folks I have eclectic tastes. My formative years were richly marinated in Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Doors, Pink Floyd and plenty of Zappa. I don't consider myself a country music fan, but there is some of the stuff I do like; such as Johnny Cash, John Prine, David Allen Coe, and some of the 4 Horsemen's stuff (I sorta consider Jimmie Buffet as country - just with better weather, and like it too).
I love classical music. Mozart is a god. But, I have to admit, I also like opera from time to time. My favorite is Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri (even better than the Barber of Seville in my book). Recently, I've been on a kick for Midnight Oil, the B-52's old stuff and Offspring, with a smattering of Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Natalie Merchant and Weird Al.
Someone mentioned Tim Curry on an earlier post here. I love his voice. My favorite thing of his (other than Baron Von Frankenfurter) was him as King Chicken on Duckman.
I really appreciate the folks here who have supplied links to some really good music (I'm enjoying the Angels of Venice right now and Emerald Rose earlier). Thanks and keep 'em coming.

Fame has gotten to Howard's head. I used to really enjoy listening to him before the books and movie. He's irreverant, but to himself, too. I don't take him too seriously. Sometimes he offers pearls of wisdom that follow you around for years.

Howard could definately be the poster boy for male chauvinist pigs, but he's far less dangerous then the thousands of men out there who practice what Howard preaches - tongue in cheek(well, what used to be tongue in cheek). I think he started out playing a part to get ratings and make a name for himself. Unfortunately, I think that that part got to his head as he became successful.
