How approximate a time is that? If I use 21:00 they have an ascendant in the late degrees of Taurus, but if I move more than 5 minutes later they have Gemini rising. Would you say they are a patient, stubborn and hardworking type? Or would they be Gemini - either chatty and vivacious or possessing a quiet wit; both with a very sharp mind?

The time is only approximate as my friend asked her dad who simply said "some time around 9pm". From those two options both I and she would say that Gemini sounds more like her.

Fay, like I said previously since your friend’s birth time is a little fuzzy, so I’ll do the best I can with the chart. I can’t guarantee it’ll be a perfect match. You said they sound more like a Gemini rising, so I’ll go with that assumption. I’m also wondering if they have Aquarius on the Midheaven instead of Capricorn as in the original chart. It’s close enough that it could go either way too. So I’m going to stick to planet descriptions only, with the exception of the Ascendant. I put 21:15 in as the birth time, but I have a suspicion it’s later than that.

So disclaimers aside, here’s what I see. Your friend has their Sun in Virgo and a Scorpio Moon, with what we assume to be Gemini rising. This indicates a struggle between emotions and rationality for domination in their personality. They may seem like an intellectual, with both the Sun and AC being ruled by Mercury, but a Scorpio Moon person is always driven by their emotions. In fact, this is about as emotional as Virgo tends to get so they may not always feel they match the written descriptions out there for Virgo. In fact Saturn (emotional restraint) and Vesta (passion) are both in Scorpio too so there’s more conflict of desires there. They have the quick Mercurial mind blended with the passion and stubbornness of Scorpio, so give them enough time to think things through and they won’t last out. Rush them and you’ll get an emotional firestorm. In fact they have a tendency to lose their temper without warning. They think logically very well, but once emotions come into play, it gets tossed aside. They may feel overwhelmed by their feelings in such circumstances and unable to think beyond the moment. Caution them to watch for a tendency to be biased against others when they feel strongly about others’ ideas. They may have trouble with any ideas that are too new and different. (Yet oddly enough, they tend to desire to be different themselves.) Their more conservative way of thinking and expressing themselves goes against all that is radical and new. They prefer that conversations and communications stay on the accepted tracks and become irritated when they stray from what they expect.

Gemini rising folk can be of two types. One style is bubbly, changeable, talkative, and a little quirky. These folk are interesting and fun. They constantly explain things, whether it's their own behavior and opinions or those of the world around them. Another distinct style is a rather cool and intellectual demeanor. These natives are often quite witty and clever, but they present themselves in a less cheerful and changeable way than the first group. Their observations are sharp and the overall manner is a tad brusque. No matter the style, Gemini rising natives are given to analysis and making sense of their world. On the other side of Mercury, Virgo tends to hate to admit they have any intuition (it’s not measurable), but with this placement, intuition is very strong and should not be discounted all the time. Once they are able to harness their intellect and their emotions they will make a very fine leader, being able to both empathize with others and navigate the activities and details. For some strange reason, I’ve seen that Pallas and Mercury squares indicate *other people* thought of the person as having a learning disability. But it’s certainly not that they are lacking in brainpower – they just think differently is all. In relationships (romantic and otherwise) this person will want a certain amount of freedom and space, though also to know that others will be there for them when they return. The benefit to that is that they give their friends and partners room to breathe too.
