An old friend of mine used to practice wicca- and i've always remembered a chant she used to 'raise energy'
today i was under alot of stress about something which could all be sorted out a phone call, unfortunately i couldnt get hold of the person i wanted to speak to and they werent phoning me
i was completely at the end of my tether and emotionally distraught- i just clung to the chant and was really pushing it in my head, also desperately wishing for the person to phone- i did this and felt calmer and as soon as i stopped and sat down by the phone they rang and the problem was sorted.
I am no longer in contact with the friend i learned the chant from, i have no phone number or address and desperately want to know exactly what it meant,
The chant was (I'll have to spell ot phonetically as i do not know the correct way to spell the words)
"Echo Echo azarack
echo echo zom-e-lack
exho echo sir-nu-nos
ech echo aray-de-a"
if anyone knows what that means and exactly what i did, and any repurcussions of it could you please tell me- it would be a great help

I dunno but you wouldn't catch me dead chanting something that I didn't know the meaning of.
Maybe you were lucky and it made your friend contact you. Maybe it was just coincidence that they contacted you and you've gone and cursed yourself. Who knows.
Good luck figuring out what it means. Without the right spelling it could be difficult but I'll see if I can find anything. You could try putting it in a search engine or a translater to see if anything comes of it.

Incidentally an Azarack is a "beast" from Everquest
Cernunnos and Aradia (sir nu nos and aray de a) are Pagan Gods. Tho Azarack, Zomelack, and Echo I don't know.

I've seen Echo before but it was spelt Eko. I can't remember what it means but I'll look it up tonight. It was also part of a chant.

it is Eko, not echo, and i believe it is Enochian.
and like was said, it is Cernunnos and Aradia.
but i have to 'echo' Myst here. why are you chanting something that you don't know? perhaps more important, invoking Gods and Goddesses you are unfamiliar with? please be more careful when dealing with things you don't understand. this is high magick, not just Wicca. the energy unleashed might have been devastating!
for a full version of this chant, see page 45 of 'The Witches Bible Compleat' by the Farrars, under the chapter 'The Opening Ritual'.

From http://www.treeleaves.com/loreboard/messages/30.html
"The chant Eko, Eko, Eko Azarak, Eko, Eko! Zomelak first originally appeared
in the art magazine FORM in 1921 in an article, "The Black Arts" by J.F.C.
Fuller. http://www.geocities.com/sistersofthecraft/gardnerhistory.htm (have
not verified this record)
In Buddhism, as per a "mantra", Eko means "offeratory" or "dedication"
see http://www.dharma-rain.org/StillPoint/archives/SPjul_aug00.shtml (valid
record)
Many Neo-Pagans I've interviewed back in 1987 claimed "Eko" to mean "Hail"
(heresay) (no valid records)
Azarak - A dark angel, whom I know nothing about (this is what I was told
when interviewing various Wiccans in the SE US), theoretically standing for
fire (heresay)(no valid records for any of this)
Zomelak - A dark angel, whom I know nothing about (this is what I was told
when interviewing various Wiccans in the SE US), theoretically standing for
water (heresay)(no valid records for any of this)"

Thanks for finding all that, Myst. That makes sense. I dug up my notes & found the chant. In my notes, it says that it's a welcoming greeting, to hail & invite.
I also follow the rule that when it comes to magic, don't use words you don't know the meaning of & check the pronunciations of those you do! :D

Enochian is actually a system of high magic including a unique language.
It's not something that can be explained in a post or two, because there's so much to it. Very complex.
What about it that you've read "doesn't gel"..?

sorry I got here a bit late to help. . .
 it's probably a very bad idea to chant things you don't understand! For all you know, you could've been dedicating your soul for that phone call. . . ;) or summoning icky luck or a rubber duckie or causing a hundred other things. . . . or perhaps even nothing at all ;)
Be careful :)

Enochian is a language that was alledgedly 'dictated' by an angel to Dr. John Dee, a 16th (or 17th) century alchemist and magician.
the language is used extensively in high magick to "coverse, consult, and otherwise hobknob with their fellow wizards". actually, it is used to call or invoke spirits and other entities.
if you would like to hear an example of it spoken by none other than Mr. Crowley himself, go to...

i meant gel in my head, not the actual magic itself, i still dont really understand it, but thats okay cos i'm not planning on speaking it any time soon
I've also done some reading on aradia and cernunnos, i can't find the two fallen/dark angels but i'm keeping away from that aswel
I'm fairly comfortable with aradia i dont feel particularly connected with cernunnos
but it's okay, i'm finding my faith, and readying myself for what i do...
more worship than magic, though i'm writing a routine for my own spell for aid to my exams...
i practiced conjuring, balancing and 'banishing' (for want of a better word' the elements and i've got the hand of the more peaceful side to them- fire comes as easy as breathing, air takes ages.
i can also cast a basic circle which i feel at home and protected in
