AHAHAHA I dono if any of you have ever read the columns on the star trek website, but they're wonderful. And there's even a wiccan mentioned in this one. It's a good reference, don't worry ;) but it's really cool, so I thought I'd share it. ^.^

*grins* In addition to translating several great works into Klingon....;) and Hamlet back into the original Klingon. I've heard there was a project in the works to tranlate the entire Bible into the language!
*laughs* I've got a set of the tapes and a dictionary....it makes your voice hoarse if you practice for too long! :D

Anybody here into filk music? (It's folk music for Science Fiction fans ... it parodies itself a lot.)
A few years ago one Leslie Fish wrote a song called "Banned From Argo" about how the Star Trek crew stops at a planet for R&R and destroys the place, and now they're not welcome there any more.
Link to Lyrics: http://www.subreality.com/argo/original.htm
Then she wrote a song called "Earth's Fire-Breathing Daughter" about a coven of witches that moves into Marin County and scandalizes the neighbors.
(Drat! No link to the lyrics available ....)
Then Bob Kanefsky combined these two songs into "Argo's Fire-Breathing Daughter" in which a thoroughly pagan Star Trek crew lands on Argo, a planet full of Bible-thumping conservatives, and manage to scandalize AND destroy the place ....

Filk is fun.

I've heard of filk but haven't listened to any yet. No wait, I did have the Star Trek Rhapsody mp3. Very funny!
A Klingon Bible, I can think of so many gift giving opportunities.:D
"It's much easier to understand that parable in the original Klingon." she said with a straight face. :eek:

From the Wiccan on that forum...
The reason I ask this is because I know several others in my religion who have been fired from there jobs, lost there homes, been disowned from there families all together, and read in news articles about them having there homes burnt to the ground, being beaten (in some cases to death) and many other horrible things, solely because someone found out what there faith was, didn't understand it, didn't want to understand it, and assumed the person was evil
I have a problem with the "Wiccan Persecution Complex".
The idea that "The whole world is out to get me because I'm Wiccan".
Houses burned to the ground? When? Where? Jobs lost? Where -- and was the ACLU contacted? (Yes, I know about the chaplain in the State prison right now, although I forget the state at the moment.
Lost their homes? When? Where? On what grounds? Was the ACLU contacted?
Murders ("Beaten to death")? Who? When? Where? Were the murderers convicted?
The lack of detail makes it sound that this person is just feeding their own persecution complex. They have it in their head that they are hated, persecuted, and denied their constituional rights... and so whether it's true or not, they'll perceive themselves this way.
This perception weakens not just them, but all of us.

<sarcasm>
Surely you know Wiccans have been persecuted for 20,000 years Katherine? The Burning Times never really went away!
</sarcasm>
:lol: expects a reply along the lines of "Give me a break! And don't call me Shirley!"

Yes, yes, and the Wiccan Druids built Stonehenge.
:sick:
I heard someone else whining online about not having their civil rights honored... But when I pinned them down, it was bacause they were too cowardly to TAKE them. No one else was stopping them -- they just didn't want them!

Disintegrata
Go nastily amid the peace and tranquillity, and
remember what satisfaction there may be in genocide.
As far as possible, without surrender, move into
other people's space.
Lie often, and loudly; and listen to the lies of
others, even the slow and incompetent - examples
can be made of them later. Seek out meek and inoffensive persons;
they are annoying, but fun to kill.
Do not bother comparing yourself to others; those
greater than you will eventually be eliminated,
and those lesser than you are dead already.
Fart in airlocks.
Assasinate your superior as quickly as possible;
your own career, however exalted,
is not worth a plugged millo if one of your junior
officers gets it over your dead body.
Exercise caution if one of your course
changes suddenly produces a sensor ghost;
for the Galaxy is full of Federation vessels.
But let this not blind you to
the happier side of things; many Starship captains are swaggering, tin-plated dictators with delusions of godhood,
and everywhere life is full of incompetence.
Advance yourself. Especially do not feign meanness,
neither be cynical about hate;
you are not likely to run out of either. Take
kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
surrendering the joys of defenestration and
evisceration for more mature pleasures.
Nurture a deep-seated suspicion of small furry
creatures that purr; you never can tell. File
your teeth regularly.
Discipline is important; practice holding it in
between planetfalls.
You are a scourge of the universe, no less than your
average interstellar plague or black hole;
you have a right ot be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the Universe is going to pieces in
a most laudable manner.
Therefore do your utmost to annoy the Destroyer,
however you many conceive of Him,
Big Bang or Entroy Death; and whatever
your plans of conquest, as you wade through
the morasses of peace with fire and sword,
annoy your soul.
With all its truth, high resolve, and courage,
the world still has its ugly spots.
Be thoughtless. Strive to be miserable.
