View Full Version : Scary dream - ADULT THEMES

I was wondering if someone could please help me interpret a dream I keep on having:

It starts of very nicely - I'm having lnch with a guy (who I'm reasonably sure is my bf) at a nice cafe by the seaside, in France. Beautiful scenery, with a stunning Chateau in the background. After a few minutes of innane flirty chatter, suddenly the sky (previously beautifully clear and blue) turns a nasty purple/green colour (like that of a recent bruise). I'm then somehow instantaneously transported into a dungeon's torture chamber, where I spend days being tortured. All through this period, I really want to tell them what they want to know, but I can't remember what it is - and I can't really understand what they are asking me (given French vs English). As soon as I realize what I have to tell them, I wake up (somewhat shaken, as you can imagine!), although I can never remember what it was I had to tell them for next time. A few minutes after waking up, a dull ache begins in my back muscles, and I end up with bruising (yes, real bruising) down my sides.

Why does this dream keep on happening to me, what could it mean, why do I actually hurt and bruise from it, and (most importantly) how can I stop it?

ANY help on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Alex

I'm not real sure, but it sounds like a Monty Python skit, sorta. Hope the bruising and nightmares stop. :hugz:

God, I wish it was a Monty Python skit!

What made you say that, anyway?

Thanks for that, so do I!

Could be the mind over matter thing...you body strongly believes you're being tortured, so it reacts as if it actually is.

Why it keeps happening? I have no idea. Have you tried lucid dreaming?

Sorry for my complete n00b-ish-ness, but what is lucid dreaming?

Hi Alex,

Lucid dreaming just means that you are aware that you're dreaming. There are all kinds of techniques that you can learn to be able to control your dreams and all kinds of neat stuff.

I can't really help you with the interpretation of your dream as I am still learning myself. I hope you can resolve it somehow, it sounds like a scary dream to be reliving over and over.

I suspect in your dream your muscles are tensing up and so your muscles are tensing up in real life and that is what's causing the brusing. I've heard of this in instances such as car wrecks and I believe a dream could be as stressful.

I'm not sure how to get it to stop. If you get a lot of charlie horses, perhaps an increase in potassium (Bannanas are good) or a hot shower as soon as you wake up. If that doesn't work a muscle relaxer might be needed, if you tell your doctor he could probably answer this alot better than I can.

As to what it means, not being able to communicate seems to be a major factor and the inability to remember the information they're wanting leads me immediately to think guilt, maybe over a secret you've got hidden from someone. If you can let go of the emotion causing the dream, that should end everything.

That, however, is assuming a psychological condition is causing the physical, it might be possible that you're having the muscle cramps like I mentioned and that they are causing the dreams. Once again a doctor would be of much more help, though I know how hard they can be to afford.

Actually, I had never really though about the possibility that my bruising was caused by tensing up, etc.

Sorry, but what are "Charlie Horses"?

Bananas are good anyways! Do you think Bananna cake (home-made) would be a good substitute?

Cheers,
Alex

I've only ever heard of it in reference to people that either have car wrecks or nearly have car wrecks, apparently the sudden clenching of the muscle can cause bruising. However, if that is the case, there may be a worse problem than just the bruising, the muscle won't (for lack of a better term) let go easy and that can cause problems.

A Charlie Horse is a cramp you get in your calf muscles and they're often times bad enough that the muscle will be tender for a decent while after the cramp ends.

I don't know. It's the potassium in the bananna that deals with charlie horses, though banannas are extremely nutritious fruits to begin with. I'd check the potassium content of the bananna cake. If it's pretty high, it'll deal with it.

Okay, thanks for the advice on that! I made the Banana cake last night, and it ended up being quite nice - I think its the first Banana cake that hasn't been dry enough to use as a building brick!
