My 13 year old cat Tiffany has taken a sudden decline. She has been eating very little (normally she bites ankles if you're 5 minutes past her dinner time), she lies around all day and has this terrible sad look. Her eyes have been watering nonstop. She looks terrible. I don't know if this is at all related to the cavity she has on her back molar.
Andrew and I cannot afford vet bills. We spent $300 on her already and seriously have absolutely no money left. Our credit card is about $400 from being maxed out. His Mom is talking to his relatives to see if they can conjure up anything. The vet won't do a payment plan. We've called around to other vets about the dental surgery she needs and they all charge about $600 for a cat of her age and weight and they won't do payment plans either. We called every vet in the phone book.
I have no idea what to do. I don't want the poor thing to suffer, but I don't want to put her down if something can be done. 13 is not that old for a cat, and she is the sweetest, most affectionate cat in the world. She sleeps in our bed and if there's a warm lap available, you won't find her anywhere else. Cuddling used to be her favorite past time. It tears me up to see her like this. Advice or energy would be appreciated.

I just wish she could come up to me and say "hey Jenni, here's what hurts" and I could know what to do...

Did you call and ask the vet for meds for those runny eyes? Sounds like she picked up something. If she is up to date on shots, she could have a bacterial URI.
Farm stores down here sell injectable penicillin G that I have used on many a cat and other critters. Any infections get knocked right out!
I don't know if you can get PenG at farms store by you.

Energy for kitty to get better.

thanks. we're taking her to the vet first thing tomorrow. If it's something simple like an infection we'll get it taken care of but if it's not, we'll probably have to put her down. She just looks like she's in pain :( It breaks my heart

Sending Best Wishes for Tiffany! Hugs for you all...
Praying it is something they can treat cheaply and easily!!!

Torb is a relatively cheap pain killer available from the vet--just trying to come up with something to buy you time until you can afford the dental. Chicken Baby Food no onion is what we fed our Sam when his teeth were bad.

May Bast Bless her and watch over her...
Blessed Be!!!

Unfortunately, the vet found a tumour in her stomach. It was very large. We decided it was best to end her suffering. We will miss her dearly :(

Bless you for having the courage to free her from her pain, to take that pain for yourself-- it hurts to let them go.

Wishing Tiffany safe journey. Wishing all who loved her peace. Blessed Be!!!

You will always remember. You will always love. Those priceless gifts are yours forever.

Hugs & Shared Tears...

:hugz: I'm so sorry for your loss. I think you made the right choice so she would not suffer needlessly. I know what a difficult time this is, take care of yourself. :hugz:
