Well, we had another thread about a hobbit house, so how about a cob cottage or cob house?

My husband and I are hoping to start building on our cob home next summer. We're really excited. There are so many reasons to build in cob!
I'd love to talk with any MWers who have built with cob before!

I would love to have a more "natural" type home of my own!

The bf and I plan on constructing a straw bale house as soon as he gets back from Japan, or as money allows. Hopefully the Japan trip will mean no worries with cash!

Sounds interesting. If I didn't live in Antartica, I would be glad to consider something termite proof! Of course, I have always wanted to live in an adobe, or even an underground house. Knowing how cold it is here, I have often wondered how the Native Americans who lived in tents stayed warm in the winter. Hopefully their bodies adjusted to the temperatures better since they were more truly intune with the natural worls.

Thanks for the links, I showed the hobbit home to my husband and I'll show him this too. We're coming up with ideas for the house we want to built when he retired from the Air Force. We passed some houses in Colorado, where we're thinking of retiring, and if I can find pics of the style I'll start a thread on it too.
