Women living in a natural environment tend to have their menses during a full moon.[citation needed] A twenty-eight day menstruation cycle is most typical, so a woman usually has 13 menses in a year. Supposedly, in the past, a woman who "bled" during a full moon might be thought a witch. The fear of women's connection to the moon, through worship of the Great Goddess

Early nursery rhymes stated there were thirteen months in a year because of the the natural moon cycle that was used to count the lunar year. In England, a calendar of thirteen months of 28 days each, plus one extra day, known as "a year and a day" was still in use up to Tudor times. The lunar year was the easiest to count for cultures before scientific methods existed to observe the movement of the earth around the sun, so it was associated with worship of the pagan Great Goddess for thousands of years, which may be another reason for 13 becoming a taboo number. Taboo often is misunderstood when only half of the totem and taboo relationship is recognized. Among religions having totem and taboo characteristics, that which is taboo on a regular basis, may become quite sacred on special occasions.

* In Sikhism, the number thirteen (13) is a number devoted to the rememberance of God, therefore it is also considered lucky by people who practice the Sikh faith.

number of colonies that originally constituted the United States of America, and thus thirteen stars have been used in American heraldry since the start of the union, appearing not only on our first national flag, but upon many of our early coins as well.

The pyramid on the left has thirteen layers, not including the eye at the top. Above the head of the eagle on the right, there is a constellation of thirteen pentagonal stars, arranged in the shape of a Seal of Solomon. There are thirteen leaves on the olive branch in his right talon, and thirteen “Jonathan arrows”, as they’re called, in his right. There are thirteen horizontal divisions on the eagle’s shield, and thirteen vertical ones. The motto “E Pluribus Unum”, written on the banner in his beak, contains thirteen letters. So too does the motto “Annuit Coeptis”, written above the pyramid on the left. Furthermore, if you add the number of letters in “Novus Ordo Seclorum” and “MDCCLXXVI” (“1776” in Roman numerals) written below the pyramid, you get 26, or two sets of thirteen. On the front of the bill, at the base of the portrait of George Washington, on each side there are eight leaves and five berries, indicating another two sets of thirteen. There are also thirteen stars on the chevron on the seal of the Treasury Department that is featured to the right of Washington, overlaying the word “ONE.”

Clearly these allusions to the number thirteen are no accident. This truth is compounded by the letters in permanently featured words on the front of the dollar bill (that is, words not contingent upon any changing circumstance, such as the name of the US Treasurer). These words include: “FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE”; “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”; THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE”; “WASHINGTON, D.C.”; “ONE”; “TREASURER OF THE UNITED STATES”; “SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY”; “ONE DOLLAR; and “WASHINGTON.” The total number of letters in these words is 169, or 13 squared.

Returning to the back of the bill, there would appear to be exactly thirteen examples of the use of the number 13 there. But in order for this to be correct, you have to count “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Of course, there are only twelve letters in this phrase, but occupying the same space in the center on the back of the bill is the word “ONE”, implying that we should add 1 to this sum and make 13. This leads us to the thirteenth example of the use of 13 on the back of the bill. There are twelve occurrences of the number “1” or the written word “one”, unless you count the Latin word “unum”, meaning “one”, used once, which makes 13 in all.

The Founding Fathers did not prohibit religious references in official contexts. the 16th amendment was never properly ratified as claimed (on February 3, 1913). An insufficient number of states voted to ratify on the one hand, and some states reversed their ratification on the other. Regardless, however, the Infernal Revenue Service (IRS) seems unmoved by this argument, and relentlessly attempts to enforce their potentially unconstitutional mandate to collect moneys to pay the US debt, said debts not to be questioned! Hence every occurrence of the number thirteen, and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution, or some kindred idea.

The second mention of thirteen is in connection with Ishmael, Gen 17:25. He was thirteen years old when Abraham circumcised him and admitted him into the covenant to which he was a stranger in heart, and which ended in his rebellion and rejection.

Genesis 14:4 : Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

. Thirteen is the number of revolt or apostasy: "Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the 13th year they rebelled" (Gen. 14:4). Note Esther 3:13! In Mark 7:21, 22, our Lord enumerated 13 features of man’s apostate heart. The "dragon," the arch-apostate, is mentioned just 13 times in the New Testament. Much of the above has been culled from Numbers in Scripture, by E. W. Bullinger—unobtainable.

The number thirteen has been deemed unlucky for many centuries due to the gematria of the number. Thirteen is often biblically associated with rebellion – against God and against his edicts - or the number reference contain references to the notion of rebellion.

Genesis 14:4
Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. (rebellion, obvious)

Genesis 17:25
And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. (Ishmael was not the son according to the promise – via Sarah – but was the son of Hagar, whom Abraham went into, due to his lack of faith in what God told).

Esther 3:12
Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants … . (Haman, a commander of King Ahasuerus, hated the Jews, he used his position in the kingdom to try to have the Jews destroyed).

New Testament
How many apostles were there – thirteen. One of the thirteen, Judas, rebelled against Jesus.

THE NUMBER '13' & IT'S SIGNIFICANCE.

The Maya and Aztec of Central America thought of the number thirteen has a symbol of transformation, that it represented a re-birth into a higher state of consciousness beyond the Earthly existence. It is this number however that has always been portrayed as unlucky in Western societies, they see it has representing the death of their earthly personality and existence. But it is the concept of death that is poorly understood in our schools of thought, and is something that is feared, mainly due to the sustained ignorance that humanity has kept itself confined to.

The number thirteen is also thought of as a negative unseen powerful influence, that can affect the lives of those people who associate themselves with it, almost as if it were to be avoided. For example, the apollo thirteen spacecraft, which was on a routine space flight, less than a year from man’s first landing on the moon, ran into problems, and the words: "Houston, we have a problem," echoed in the control centre at Houston. The number thirteen is now considered unlucky by NASA, and is avoided. We’ve all heard of the phrase ‘unlucky thirteen’. Again another example would be some hotels not having a floor numbered thirteen because of it’s owner or manager being superstitious; or certain dates and days being associated with the number thirteen, and therefore not a date and day to look forward to.

When the mainstream pushes through the media etc a belief or superstition you might want to practice asking the question.. What are they trying to scare you away from? Maybe they are trying to scare you away from eh symbolically meaningful and powerful LUCKY number thirteen...

Much of religion uses fear because fear disconnects you form having a true spiritual connection with the divine. Superstition and fear causes much murder and wars and was responsible for the witch trials and witch burnings etc. Unfortunately many atheist even are hunted by superstitious programming in the movies... I pulled some magic tricks and prank tricks both illusions and psychological on atheists etc and manipulated them to believe in all kinds of things as a experiment then afterwards told them it was a prank.. THE POINT is the mind and belief can be VERY powerful.

Tell your pal to relax. The 13 in all the stuff is symbolic of the 13 original colonies, and that star of david has many more correspondences than the judaic one. It is used in the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. Please have him look up the six rayed star, and other things. He is flipping over for no reason there. http://www.barefootsworld.net/dollarbill.html Th

LOL I think that is ridiculous.. Nothing in and of itself is evil.. It’s like the owl has many admirable qualities.. In and of itself nothing is wrong with it, but another person could interpret it and use the symbol for something negative, and because of that some people think all symbols of the owl are bad maybe because some people used it in a negative way.. Like the swastika used to have many positive meanings before Hitler tool the symbol over..

I certainly would not rule out that people use the number 13 in a negative way, but that dose not in any way make the number in and of itself evil or negative… People can be pretty silly like that.. On the other hand we should pay attention to symbols and how they are used and be able to separate those who abuse symbols and our personal reverence with them can be totally different.

A knife can be used to cook food or murder… A knife like magick or symbols are neutral in and of themselves… I think the number 13 is wonderful like all numbers.
