I have been researching witchcraft and Paganism for about three or more years now. I am very excited about it, but I am going extremely slowly and that's fine with me. I know more than I think I do, but going slow is what I need. I've never cast a circle, never done a spell per se', either.

Anyway, I'm interested in Tarot and got a deck for x-mas a few years ago that I wanted. A few days ago, I finally had time to look over the cards and do a couple of learning exercises. I was told to flip all the cards down and pick one that called to me. I won't go into why or what the card was for, not important for my question. I did pick a card, after running my hands slowly, hovering over all the cards to find the one that called to me.

It was absolutely unexpected, I wasn't looking for this sensation, I didn't really know what to expect but as I ran my hand over a certain card I felt my hand tingle. It was so subtle I almost imagined I didn't feel it, but it felt like static electricity sometimes feels when you get close to it and feel a slight repelling feeling. From that point on, I felt that was a sign that the card I needed was that one. Interestingly, that card truly WAS the card I needed.

Does that happen to anyone else? This clearly took me by surprise.

Yep, that's how you do that. :) What deck did you get, btw?

It's the Faerie Oracle deck, the one designed by Brian Froud. I just LOVE his art. I collect all his books ... I just really wanted the deck!

Phenomenal deck ... that tingly thing you speak of is not unusual ... although sometimes it will be a tingle, sometimes a feeling of warmth, sometimes a funny little tickle ...

The more you work with the Froud cards, the more strongly you will connect with the Fey. Enjoy the journey!

(try working with the Fey in meditation)

I used that deck a lot over Christmas, and I had a dream that the faeries in it released me from a magic spell that was crippling me physically and emotionally. This was round about the time that I really did begin to penetrate the emotional web surrounding me and get "back to basics" while reading and intuiting messages from tarot and oracles (e.g. I Ching) alike.

Generally speaking I find that although I seem to collect tarot decks as if they are going out of fashion, I find I only read seriously for other people with one or two (definitely the Morgan Greer and sometimes the Renaissance). The best decks do have something distinctly magickal about them, and while Froud's deck I think I will use more for personal study than reading for others, I do believe in the power of someone to invest magickal properties in artwork, even that mass-produced for public distribution like on a popular tarot deck. I've heard eerie stories about the Archeon tarot as well so you are definitely not alone.

I have that sense with cutting the cards.

If I want a certain card I just need to look at the deck and the card will call to me so I can cut right to it.

Sometimes the feeling is weak, sometimes really strong. Sometimes when it is weak you tend to try to ignore it and you can succeed. When it is really strong, you just get that card no matter how you try to ignore it.

I once did a spread that I didn't care for the cards in it, so I just started over. I'm not kidding the very same cards in the same order came out. I shuffled those things for 10 minutes (slight exaggeration) and still got those cards. I just had to tell you that ignoring the little tingle won't stop the message, it will come to you in some other way. A card with similar energy may have been drawn etc.

That's how I feel every time I draw a card for myself. :) That's a good sign!
