Hi everyone,
I'm a fairly new member to this group, but I wanted to ask everyone that reads this to take a moment aside from their day and send out a thought for someone in trouble. I have been corresponding with another pagan in England near Cornwall. She is married, her husband is also a pagan, and they have 3 children. Five months ago, the Social services there had been investigating her because she was a practicing pagan. Because of her "persisting peculiar beliefs", they took her 2 youngest children away, and now a court decision is pending on permenantly adopting them out to another family. I know her to be an excellent mother and would never do anything to endager her children. She is being persecuted for her beliefs. This must not happen! If anyone that reads this could find it in their hearts to work on her behalf, it would help her and these little children.
The social worker's name is Liz Sutherland, and the office is the Devon Children and Families Department. Please everyone, help us fight them to get the children back and send a message that WE WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED! Persecution did not stop during the burning times. It must end here and now. Thank you.

I am unfamiliar with British law. I am not sure of the complainant. Are they family members? Are they neighbors?
Over here, this would have been investigated by a rep from Child protective services. If there is not some sort of a public flogging as mentioned in another thread, and the children are happy, well fed, being educated and the family is stable, There is NO reason to remove the children. Is this not a vindictive father trying to get custody?
Not knowing the details is difficult, but yes, this is wrong to take children away from a mother for that reason. But, then again, we left Britain under the "guises" of religious freedom.

There are laws over here which prevent discrimination on the grounds of religion/philosophical belief systems but they are relatively new and haven't yet been fully tested through the Courts.

I am ashamed but not surprised that my fellow countrymen could behave in such a manner.

I really hope that right prevails.

I am ashamed of my countrymen to be so closed minded and to come in and mess with a persons family due to religious beliefs. Positve healing energies for strength and healing for the family. My goodness this makes me very sad.
