I made an app for Suki, our kitten to go to the vet. She is limping in her back left leg and she has a huge knot on her neck just below her head. I dont know whats going on and cant get to the vet until sat. morning cause the car is broke. :(

I wish I could say strickly indoor. I try to keep her indoors and mostly ya, indoors. However shes taking a liking to outside and unless we can catch her before she gets out, forget about it, she wont come back until she is ready :/
At first I thought another cat might have got her. She got got once before and the same leg got hurt, but healed and she was walking on it fine. Now she is not, and the knot on her neck is just that, a really hard knot. Im wondering if its an absess tooth or something...:/

I was also thinking an abcess on the her neck. My aunt's cat just got it by another cat and her leg was messed up and it had a big knot on it that was an abcess from an attack. Did she get out yesterday or today at all?

I noticed it last night (wed night) she got out when the kids left for school and was out most of the day. When she came in she ate and went to my daughters room and slept on the bed, like normal. Then that night after the kids went to bed she comes out into the living room. She was just sitting on the couch and I went to pet her and felt it and noticed it. Freaked out, called around, called my mom in law this morning and got an apt at the vets office 930am on Sat. :/
Shes eating and drinking and going to the bathroom ok. Just doesnt want to jump around or anything. Just lays in your lap and sleeps.

ah, poor kitty, it does sound to me like she may have tangled with another cat. As long as she's eating, drinking and pottying normally, she should be okay until Saturday.

Well, she seems to be doing somewhat better today. Still limping and still has the knot, but she slept with us some last night and was her noisy self this morning.
Smell the lump. An abscess will STINK.
I checked it out last night and the thing is. It doesnt stink. Its just like one hard lump that popped up. I felt around and moved the fur aside and other than just being a knot, there is no skin broken or tore. Its a hard lump to, and it doesnt seem to hurt her when touched. Either she doesnt let me know, or she doesnt care cause when you rub it its just like rubbing the other side of her neck, she sticks her head out and closes her eyes in that 'feel good' face come up.
Im wondering if she could have been bit by a non poisonous spider? Could one cause a reaction like that? I know ive had small reactions to a non poisonous spider bite before.
Whenever DH gets up he is hopefully gonna fix the car...at least get the parts and try. If he does, they told me if I could get there before tomorrow morning (sat. morning) to just go ahead and walk in and they would fit me in.

A spider or other insect bite is possible for the knot, but probably not for the limping unless it was two bites. Still sending energy.

I'm glad it's not an abscess :) And a spider...never thought of that, though it's possible.
Good luck at the vet. Glad she's her noisy self :) Healing sent.

Thank you all so much. I just got off the phone with my MIL and she will be taking me to the vet tomorrow. Were gonna have to send the jeep to the shop to get fixed. DH tried to fixed it and got some of it fixed, but its still spitting gas out and we cant get to it so..ya, fun.
Im still worried about her..I just hope its nothing serious.

So we went to the vet. Suki seems to be doing fine. The knot in her neck has gone down alot and we think that she either got bit, or scratched from another cat, or she might have scratched it herself. Theres not anything 'there' but the vet said it could take something really small, and the fact that its gone down is a good sign. To keep an eye on it and if it gets worse or not better to come back and they will do some tests. They did test for feline leukemia and she is neg. so thats good. No absess tooth, her teeth look fine, so, don't really know.
Now for her leg. She has no broken bones and no fractures. He didnt take exrays but feeled up her leg really good and, well, other than just not liking being restrained, she didnt really have any fits.
Since I just noticed it, I am going to give her time to heal and if that doesnt get any better, I'll be back for xrays in a few weeks. He thinks that it actually could be something thats always been there and we are just now noticing it. He says its very rare, but the way she acts he said it sounds like a hip problem. Given her history...it could be possible. It was one of my ex neighbors whos cat had kittens. Her daughter brought me Suki and said she was 8wks old and needed to go now or her mom was taking her to the pound.
She was as big as my hand.
I thought that she couldnt be 8wks, but, I guess its possible. I also suspect that the kittens were also inbred, but, I dont know for sure or not.
She will walk on her leg, even run on her leg without really limping. She will use it if she jumps up on something that she cant get her claws into, but, if she is jumping onto say, the couch, she will jump enough to get her front claws in and then pull herself up the rest of the way.
Now, shes a fast little sucker and actually does it really fast.
She also sits funny..with that leg, kinda..outward and not tucked in like her other leg..like other cats do. She also, when laying down, keeps it stretched out.
I dont know if its the same with dogs? But ive been wathching her while home and I have noticed a 'sway' in her hips. Very different from Tigs walk and all the other cats ive had.
Has anyone ever heard of this or dealth with it? I never thought of a cat having hip problems but, I guess anything with hips and joints can have problems.
In a few weeks, if it doesnt get better I'll make and app. for xrays.
After the vet visit, shes been her playful shelf. She likes playing with hair ties and has found some of mine and ran off with them :/ even trying to bite the one off my wrist.

I'm so glad it doesn't seem to be anything serious. I didn't even think about hip problems, but very possible.

I am also postinging on another board I go to about Suki..on a dog board of all places, lol.
Anyways, I have had a few replies and apperently hip problems arent extremly wear. 20 to 25% of OFA'd Main Coon cats are dysplastic. And someone else had the same problems with her cat having hip problems, and it to was under a year old.
Im still going to give it a few weeks, see if it gets better. Try to keep her from running and jumping...which is going to be hard, heh. When we get another paycheck im going to have her xrayed, just to see how her hips look and get an idea on how bad it might be.
But ya, I am very glad that its nothing very serious life threatning right now.
