According to the Sci-Fi channel's latest schedule, Ghost Hunters will be on a weekly schedule again starting in April. No word yet on whether they'll be new episodes or reruns, but it looks like they're going to show three episodes a night, so if they follow their usual pattern, at least one of them should be new.

Also, according to Jason and Grant on their TAPS Pararadio show, Sci-Fi has ordered an additional six episodes for season three. This is on top of the seven they have yet to air. They're also planning another Halloween special.

Yeah, I've just about had enough of the bullsh!t games Sci-Fi is playing with Ghost Hunters. First, they were supposed to air the second half of season three in January. That kept getting pushed back for who the hell knows what reason. They finally said April, which is the schedule I posted above. Now they've pushed it back yet again, and now they're saying season two reruns in May, with some of the rest of season three in June, the summer with NO Ghost Hunters, the rest of season three in the huging fall, and season four next huging year!
This is just ridiculous. What are they trying to do, kill the ratings? It's only their top-rated show. :goodgrief

Episode Detail: Irish Ruins - Ghost Hunters
Ireland's Lisheen Ruins are visited for look a purported ghostly activity; the team goes to London to probe tales about the Viaduct Tavern.
http://www.scifi.com/sfw/interviews/sfw15873.html
Jason: We have the Lisheen Ruins in Ireland, which was an incredible place to investigate.
Grant: That was the ruins of a guy's house that is just nothing but walls now. There's no floors, no ceiling. The house was built in the late 1800s.
Jason: He use to collect the mummy stuff, and he used to have it all through his house.
Grant: There are claims of apparitions and fairy activity. And not fairies like you picture with wings and pretty little dresses and crap. I mean, these things are feared by the Irish and respected by the Irish. And not necessarily friendly by any means.
Jason: Actually, they are vicious little creatures. ... It was an incredible experience that we'll never forget.
next Wednesday - June 13
Episode Detail: Hellfire Caves - Ghost Hunters
The team explores the Hellfire Caves, a labyrinth under rural England that was used by a secret satanic society to protect its members and stage their rituals.
Jason: That's actually an old chalk mine that, after it was done being used for that, it was converted to a place for, I guess you'd call it a secret society, to go and hang out. There are a lot of different claims. There's claims of human sacrifices, and the strange thing is the room that they're claiming the human sacrifices happened [in] is 300 feet below ground, beneath a church.
Grant: They call it Heaven and Hell. The church was heaven and then 300 feet below it was the hell. Lots of s0tuff is going on.

How awesome I'm watching an episode of them on the USS Lexington (in Corpus Christi, TX). I've actually spent a few nights on that ship (school field trip). I didn't experience anything but a few of the mothers and teachers that went with us did. It's huge and surprisingly spotless on the inside, food's not bad either.

Just saw the new episode. The first half was pretty good in the old sanitarium, but the second half down in the underground of Seattle didn't make a believer out of me. ;)
However, before the new episode they reran the one next door to the house where the Charles Manson group murdered Sharon Tate and a whole group of others.... brrr, that one still gives me the heebie jeebies!

what did you guys think about the other piece of equipment (k2?) in the house with the manson murders..

September 27th, 2007, 09:21 AM
The meter was an interesting piece of equipment, but I wasn't impressed with the guy using it. He was so impatient, his questions were so rapid fire and rushed, ugh. And I guess I'm used to having it be "one blink for yes and two blinks for no" that it seemed like he had that backwards to me which kinda threw me off. I will say that the Taps team seemed pretty impressed by the device, but it's not something they can use to record evidence so I doubt they'll be buying one for the team.

I agree it was rushed and awkward In don't think taps would buy one it's just an emf meter tuned to specific frequency probably around 41HZ .
I have heard this is known to be a range that that the paranormal is usually found.
I wonder If it would go off when in a circle or during medidation.

I sort of like Brian..I feel kinda sorry for him. From the beginning of the show I thought Jason was really into humiliating him. I used to really like the show, but it's so boring now..nothing ever really happens and that music or the sound effects they play always interfere with being able to hear what is going on.
While it's a different kind of show, I enjoy A Haunting on the Discovery channel. Lately though I have noticed that whenever someone on the show is Wiccan or as one guy had the other day "wicca candles" they always end up getting possessed by a demon. I really want to see a ghost with my own eyes. I have had experiences where I heard voices and other things, and felt something sit on my bed once, but I want to see a full on apparition-But not when I'm alone at night in case any ghosts are reading this.

Hmm, Brian's been gone for quite a while now... unless you're catching reruns. Here they show a couple of reruns and then show the new episode - full evening of Ghost Hunters. Which is good because I didn't see all the old episodes (must have been on the same night as my drum circle met).

I have been getting into this show the last few days...I don't think we get it in the UK, and certainly not on MY TV (no sky or cable). I have to say, I don't have a problem with Brian, and it kinda pisses me off the way the others always seem to make fun of him. Like what is this, the playground?
I don't know if it's just a 'storyline' that the group enact because it makes the show more interesting, or whether they just have a huge problem with the guy, or whether they're just MEAN. I just watched the Eastern Penitentiary Episode (the first one) and the bit where (I think it was Jason) was saying to Brian "It's not the cable, don't talk about stuff you don't know anything about" just made me cringe a bit. Why was it neccessary to be so aggressive? It just seems like Brian is a fall guy and the group bullies him. And a pack mentality is always an ugly thing among humans.
Poor Brian.

I've watched all three seasons, but keep catching episodes that are "new to me" in reruns. Jason is just that kind of guy, and in the early episodes they showed his wife giving it back to him in spades. There was one time when Grant was talking about Jason being the "power" and he (Grant) being the "heart" of the group. Then he realized what he had said and added that Jason has a big heart too.
I've seen Jason be tough on the whole crew, he has his way of doing things and it's really his group so he's in charge, but I've never seen him give anyone else the crap that he gave Brian. I think Brian was a real contrast, sometimes a major screwup but basically he knew his stuff and did a good job in looking for evidence. Of course, the producers and editors certainly played up that conflict. Blah.

The issues with Brian go back quite a while, long before they had the show. He's been fired from the group before for his unreliability and lying, but they always took him back (thanks to Grant convincing Jason to give him more chances). His behavior didn't change when they got the show, and I guess the producers decided to include the conflicts for some kind of "human drama," which in a show about the paranormal really isn't necessary, or wanted by the viewing audience.

Ok, I accept maybe they had a problem with him and had their reasons, but I still thought it was a bit immature to keep sniping at the guy. There are better ways to communicate!
On the theme of plot elements, does it piss anyone else off how they play off the 'we're plumbers' thing in a really unrealistic way? Like the times when they 'just happen' to be on a plumbing job, WITH a cameraman and camera, when they get a call about a haunting. Or they set up obvious 'scenes' like in the Eastern State Pen episode where you see Grant and Jason on a plumbing job talking about how they need to go back to the prison. I understand it's just a way of telling the story, but it annoys me when things seem deliberately staged.
Also is it just me, or do the 'TAPS HQ' look different almost every time? What's up with that?
Also, Grant must explain what EVPs are about once an episode, and what EMF meters are about once every two  how short do they think our attention spans are?!

I really haven't paid too much attention to the look of the HQ. I just figure they're using different rooms in the office at different times. What I have noticed though is that the decor in the rooms is consistent. If you see them in a certain room, that room looks the same each time it's showed.
Yeah, the explanations can get a little tiring. What's funny about them is, I think they're still using the explanations they did for the first season shows and just sticking them into the current episodes. Like in this season, Jason had a beard, but in his explanation segments, he wouldn't. And Grant's hairstyle would be different also. I'd like to go back and watch some of the old first season shows just to see if they're wearing the same shirts in the explanation segments.

Yeah, the "stagey" set up of some scenes is totally unnecessary in my opinion too.
I don't remember if this is the 3rd season or the 4th - and I don't feel like hunting up their web site to check - but they've had a new fleet of vans each season, and they've moved their headquarters at least once. They started out in a small trailer in Jason's backyard, and then moved to a storefront downtown someplace.
I guess they have to keep explaining the scientific stuff in case someone is watching the show for the first time ever. I hadn't really paid attention to the clothing or the hair styles, but I think you're right and those are old clips that they simply insert into new episodes.

It's the 'full-bodied apparition' from Eastern state.
When I first saw this episode, I thought the video was quite compelling.
But then I looked again. Doesn't it look like it's wearing light-coloured pants? When it begins walking away, you see the 'cloak' billow to the side and then, in the bottom left of the figure...it really looks to me like light-coloured pants.

Right, the first season's HQ was the trailer, then they got the storefront for the second season, and they've been there ever since. I don't think they've gotten all new vehicles each season. They got the black vans at the beginning of the second season, and I want to think they started out with two of them. They've since added an SUV, upping it to three vehicles. What they have gotten each season is a new thermal imager. The first one they used was a black and white one. They had a color imager in the second season, and it was pretty good sized, a little smaller than the old VHS camcorders. In the third season, they were using a much smaller, handheld imager.
2nd season imager:

Probably because they're dealing with a different client in each investigation. It's just a little speech he's come up with to explain what they did to the people they investigate for that doesn't make them sound totally incompetent. Even though it's repetitive for the audience, it's not for the client.

That video is probably the most controversial piece of evidence they've gotten to date. If you watch it, it's pretty obvious that it's been sped up - just watch how fast the dust particles are moving, and how unnatural their movement is. Combine that with their less than stellar attempts to debunk it, and you wind up with a whole lot of people, and I'm talking about GH fans, who think it's fake. One of the pressing questions is, if it is fake, did TAPS fake it themselves, or did someone else do a number on them, hoping they'd capture it? They've had to deal with people trying to fake evidence before, most notably during their investigation of the Queen Mary. They caught that bit of fakery though.

At one point though, they seemed to have a WHITE TAPS van...it confused me!
And there are still shots of the trailer in S4. Weird.
Also, there was one episode I just watched where, during the opening credits, they had all the usual people, and then this one girls whose title read "Heather - Pagan".
Apparently that's a title in itself  Ya don't need to be an investigator if you're a PAGAN! Those are credentials in and of themselves!
I thought it was kinda stupid. It's like getting a gay girl in there and having the title say "Jenny - LESBIAN". It's a label, ya know? Not a reason for someone to be on a TAPS investigation. I felt like it was a bit sensationalist. Like "Ooh, we have a WITCH on board!"
Despite my nitpicking, I do really like the show. It's much better than English shows like Most Haunted (which basically consist of Yvette Fielding screaming for an hour at nothing. Seriously, this one episode, they are in a graveyard, and she lets out a piercing shriek: "What's that? What the *bleep is that?" until another team member calmly states "Yvette, that's a tree." )

I haven't caught all the season 4 episodes, so I suppose they could have gotten a new van, or repainted one of the black ones. I know they used a white van in season one. Showing the trailer could have been some type of 'flashback' thing dealing with season one investigations. Are you sure it was a season four episode and not a season one?
Yeah, the 'Heather - Pagan' thing always makes me laugh. They put titles up with each person's name, like 'Lead Investigator,' 'Case Manager,' 'Investigator-in-Training,' etc. One guy's title is 'Demonologist.' I guess just look at it this way: 'Pagan' is noteworthy enough to warrant its own title!
The whole pagan thing is weird to start with though, because in one episode, they were investigating someone's home, and they ran across some occult things, including a small wooden jewelry-type box with a pentacle on the lid, and it freaked them out. But yet they have a Pagan on the team. Go figure. :whatgives

Well I watched most of S4 before I watched any of the earlier episodes (I know, wrong way around! They were just the ones I found first on youtube). I'm pretty sure they have the trailer there, and it wasn't a flashback. Maybe they just used some old footage to sort of 'illustrate' going back to headquarters? Or maybe they still use the trailer sometimes as a backup? Who knows.
I get the impression that the team overall is Christian. I've heard Grant say Christian-sounding stuff a couple times. It's weird how people in general seem to be much more religious in America. You know, generally Americans are Christian (not on this board of course, lol, but IRL I think most Americans consider themselves vaguely Christian. Whereas in England most people are Atheists or Agnostic, I think.)
My fav episodes of TAPS so far were the one at Fort Mifflin, the one at the Lisheen Ruins in Ireland and the Trans-Allegheny lunatic asylum. All very creepy locations with lots of good evidence!
There's no way you would have gotten me down in that Casement 11 place (the solitary confinement tunnel, where they recorded the EVPs I posted.) I am claustrophobic. Being trapped in a tiny place like that, UNDERGROUND no less...well I'd just faint TBH. Especially when there are also ghosts in the equation.
You know it's funny, I've been interested in ghosts and hauntings since I was a little girl, but I'd still never have the nerve to go to any of these places! I am a chicken. Just like Brian Harnois. ("Dude, RUN!")

I also love how you guys over in America have all these crazy abandoned buildings, and they're HUGE. Like asylums and old hospitals and shit. I've seen buildings over there that are like the size of your average STREET in England
Old lunatic asylums REALLY freak me out. It's hard to imagine the way they used to treat those people, you know? I also read somewhere that they included epileptics in with 'the insane' at one time. Imagine being an epileptic, and being stuck in there with people who had real, serious psychosis and stuff. Christ, that would SEND you insane!
I also have a real terror of lobotomies. It's just the worst thing I can imagine. So, yeah. No asylums for me. Even abandoned ones :shaker:
I'm so glad we understand more about mental illness now. Those places were pretty hoorrendous.

And also (I'm just adding things as I'm watching stuff on youtube) this footage of a blanket being pushed back while Grant is lying in bed:

I dunno about you guys, but that doesn't look right to me. The way the creases form, they kinda stay the same way throughout the movement. I'm tempted to say that there was string or something attached to the blanket, pulling it back...it just doesn't seem to follow the laws of physics.
ETA: the way the fabric gathers reminds me of a drawstring...when you pull a drawstring tight. That's how the fabric would look.

Lisheen was good, but have you seen their first visit to the St. Augustine lighthouse? That episode was great. They got a ton of good stuff there.

Old asylums give me the creeps too. We have one here in town that's since been converted into a prison. It's one of those old, 19th century Gothic style asylums, but it's not just one building. It's a big, multi-building complex, and they all have this look:

You know, the kind of look that can creep you out on a bright, sunny summer afternoon. This picture is actually the original building. It became the administration building when they started expanding. One of the buildings became, and still is, a psychiatric museum, and naturally, there's been a lot of paranormal activity reported, from both visitors and employees, including at least one of the museum directors.

A lot of people have felt the same way. The fact that you can't see Grant's hands don't help when it comes to claims of fakery. And when you think about it, the camera really isn't in a good spot for maximum coverage of the room. I've questioned their camera placement for a while now. It just seems that they don't pick great spots to set their cameras up in. Things tend to happen just out of view.

Here's a pic of the Trans-Allegheny asylum in West Virginia:

It's one of the creepiest buildings I have ever seen. I suppose it's partly imagining the stuff that used to go on in places like that. Or the stuff I IMAGINE went on
There's a really creepy old pub here that I am SURE is haunted. I should go back and take some pics sometime...this is supposed to be one of the most haunted cities in the UK.
I haven't seen the lighthouse episode yet. I will watch it now :)
I'm not trying to debunk TAPS completely. If anything, I want to believe this stuff is true. But that blanket moving just looked a little fishy to me.
Still, I think they probably do have SOME genuine stuff. Some of the EVPs are pretty creepy.

Oh, I have a feeling your imagination is right on the money. I went to our psychiatric museum once (key word: ONCE). It covers the history of the treatment of mental illnesses. It's pretty damn disturbing.
I'd kind of like to go back just to see if I can experience anything paranormal. As an aside, just last year, a patient cemetery was uncovered. The museum director said they'd known there was a cemetery on the grounds somewhere, but they didn't know exactly where it was until now.

Ok, how weird is this...I just found a pic of an old asylum here in England, not far from where I live...and it looks EXACTLY THE SAME as the ones in the US (but smaller).
Why do they all look the same?! With the clocktower and the vestibule? It's creepy!!
:awilly:
ETA: a passage about Bethlem Hopsital in London...the infamous 'Bedlam' -
Bridget Franklin writes that, due to the poor understanding of mental illness at the time, patients at Bedlam were considered inhuman, and were treated accordingly: shackled, whipped, kept naked on beds of straw, and fed through the bars of their cages. Furthermore, over time, the hospital became dilapidated and overcrowded, with no division between sexes or classes of illness. In 1675, it moved to Moorfields, London, into the first structure built purposely as a hospital for the insane. It was here that Bedlam became a tourist attraction, where people who paid a penny could observe and provoke "lunatics" for their own amusement. It was not until 1700 that these "lunatics" were finally called "patients."

That was just the style of asylum architecture in the mid- to late-19th century. Here in the States, there are old asylums all over the country with that 'perfect-for-a-horror-movie' appearance.
It was here that Bedlam became a tourist attraction, where people who paid a penny could observe and provoke "lunatics" for their own amusement.
Lovely. And I'm sure they considered themselves to be a "civilized" society too.
