This is.......odd, to say the least.
KOLKATA, India (Reuters) - When dozens of chickens went missing from a remote West Bengal village, everyone blamed the neighborhood dogs.
But Ajit Ghosh, the owner of the missing chickens, eventually solved the puzzle when he caught his cow -- a sacred animal for the Hindu family -- gobbling up several of them at night.
"We were shocked to see our calf eating chickens alive," Ghosh told Reuters by phone from Chandpur village.

~~
Strange, strange case. I thought, though, that the comment that the cow was a tiger in his former life was kind of interesting.

I like that too.
I'm glad they do have confirmation from a vet. That calf must be seriously anemic.

Animals find away, given the chance, to correct an imbalance in diet.
You don't want to know what some simple little hens are capable of if they are low on protein!

so I'm thinking of the secret cow level in Diablo 2 for those of you who've played that.
Moo moo moo moo, moo moo, MOOO!!!
Here's something to give you nightmares. Eat a burger recently? Live in the US? Guess what that burger was eating when she was a cow! Yep, they got this system in most of the large dairys and stuff where they make meal (like corn meal or rice meal) but it's bone meal and blood meal from the stuff they don't need for cuts and sausages. Ya it's economical, recycling. What you don't know wont hurt you, at least as long as the FDA doesn't say it does. And as long as nobody has any reaserch or whatnot giving hard evidence that it's unhealthy for humans to eat these cows the FDA just assumes it's ok and that with the right $$contributions$$ assumes that you don't really want to know.
If you'd like to avoid this you can either go with stuff thats certified organic (pretty much any Organic Cert. covers this stuff) or free range beef. Personaly I think free range tastes better anyway.
