okay, my friends, here's why you don't want to do readings over the phone for 3.99 a minute....

first, the lottery numbers. do you know how many people call you up asking for the lottery numbers? I mean, if I could figure that out, would I be on the phone at 3 in the morning ? come on, people!

Second, well, that's the drunks, the stoners, and anybody else who isn't really into getting a reading, they called because they were bored. it made me understand why my teacher charged $35 an hour back in '88....

and to top it all, was this reading- I read for a young man, he chose the knight of cups as his siggy....the reading was all about him meeting a young woman, starting a new relationship- he let me get all the way through the reading, then said- your'e a fraud! you know why? cause I'm gay!
well, had he said that in the beginning, I would have told him- I didn't have a card that reperesnted this person, just a bunch of cards that pointed to a new relationship... but he didn't want a reading- he wanted to prove me wrong.

guess i should've put this in glory's primadonna thread.....

Wow...

Maybe you should try Kasamba, which is online.

It honestly does seem to screen out the riffraff you've been experiencing so unfortunately.

They need to be able to at least sort of type, for one thing (stoners), & though there are those people that want to "prove you wrong" (I had 1 encounter like it), they seem to be by far in the minority - it was only 1 time out of manymanymany. & you can unhook at any time.

You can see who is calling you - you can report them if you need to.

Of course, they can "contest" their payment of you, it's policy - I had about $90 go that way - but again, it's very rare in my experience. If you are good, they pay you.

I'm only charging $1.95 a minute, but I do make a goodly-enough amount to make it worth it. A lot of cheap, little calls that add up - the occasional chatty cathys.

It's best to not charge TOO much - most especially in the beginning, when you are trying to win fb. I have a pretty solid ***** rating (out of 5). The occasional low fb doesn't much affect my overall fb (VERY unlike, say f'rinstance, eBay!).

Anyway, I just thought I would point you to them because things seem overall to be decent & civilized; I've been with them for 1 year & some months & quite love what I am doing. The "bozos" are not getting me down in this job.

Oh! - you have to not mind being interrupted at your computer, though of course you can switch your status to "unavailable" should you choose. As far as I'm concerned, everytime I hear that old-fashioned phone-bell, it's $$$$$ going off in my head - rarely miss, rarely mind! :D

That does sound like it would fit in Glory's thread, but it didn't matter. I had considered doing reading by phone. Now I guess that won't be happening. That sounds just awful. :rollingla Actually, when I started reading that one about the relationship, I thought, Oh I bet the guy was gay. I had something similar happen to me face to face, however, I had peg the guy as a gay and left if very generic as to the relationship personality rather than anything gender based. Most gays come across as feminine on my cards, so it would be a little difficult to give gender to this for me, without some other premonition as to the gender. I'm pretty good at spotting even closet gays, so that may help me in person. Over the phone, not so good.

thanks for sharing this experience, probably saved me lots of grief.

 It could have gone in my thread! But the more the merrier, I say, I love reading Tarot horror stories, I truly do.

I've been considering doing phone readings for people (in the way future, when I actually feel experienced enough that people would be getting their money's worth!), and sheesh... why would you spend cash just to prove someone wrong? It's not like the Tarot reader will care, they'll just get the cash and say 'okay, well done *click*'. It's like paying for bragging rights: 'I outwitted a Tarot reader, for just $20!' Sheesh.

And besides, if that guy knew one thing about Tarot, he might realise that a reader might refer to a 'she' based on assumption, not what the cards are saying.

Why someone would think you could tell a gender through cards is beyond me.

Wow. And to think I've considered reading professionally. Now, I'm not so sure. I've done readings for a-holes before, but nothing like that. I had a woman call me every week for a year to ask about a co-worker she liked. Every instinct in my body and every indication in the reading told me this man was gay or bi and was not interested in her even if he was straight, but she just couldn't accept this.

I tend to get a LOT of "am I pregnant?" phone calls and emails. Seriously, folks, save your money for a pregnancy test instead of asking me!

I read for a young man, he chose the knight of cups as his siggy....the reading was all about him meeting a young woman, starting a new relationship- he let me get all the way through the reading, then said- your'e a fraud! you know why? cause I'm gay!

Haha! I've made that mistake, too. Nowadays, when folks ask for love or relationship readings I say "before I read, may I ask whether you prefer male or female partners? or "may I ask whether your current partner is a woman or a man? Sometimes they refuse and I read ambiguously, most of the time they're happy to clue you in because they know it makes for less guessing on their part when you interpret.

I know it's been forever since you posted this, but thank you! I finally got around to trying Kasamba this month and it's loads of fun, even though I'm still getting the hang of it and not making a whole lot of money! I used to do Keen.com readings, but chat is so low-stress compared to phone.

My friend does readings on Kasamba, but she was also giving advise on spells and magic - she has the most ridiculous, hilarious horror story from there about this guy asking for a spell to change the size of his....um...junk. But seriously, he wanted it so big he literally wanted to not be able to move because of it. Seriously. She saved all the emails he sent and I read them....this guy could not have been more off the reservation if he tried. Zany Brits

I just started reading for Kasamba and I've done two very small readings today. The first guy, well he was interesting. He wanted a past life reading and contested everything I said. At first, everything seemed well, he said I was connecting well to everything and before I knew it, he said that wasn't right, he didn't feel it, that made no sense, etc and ended the session abruptly.

My other session went rather well. Very nice guy. We connected well.

I hope I don't get many like the first guy!
