hello all! i FINALLY got my first pentacle!!!! ive been eyeing in the local occolt stre for almost a year now and i finally bought it! but i want to clense it cuz its been there for a looooong time. so i know i ahve to bury it buuuut:

1) does it have to be a specific time? (full moon)
2) specific place (west? east?)
3) does it ahve to be in a box/bag? or just plop it in a hole?
4) how long does it stay buried?

No you don't have to bury it.

There's a few threads on this around here, but sufficed to say that you can bury it, put it under running water, leave it on an amethyst bed, leave it under a full or new moon, leave it under the sun, put it in salt, smudge it, or do a cleansing ritual on it.

As far as to your questions, it doesn't have to be a specific time, direction, in a specific container, or buried for a specific time. Just go with what feels right to you.

Personally I wouldn't bury anything because I'm afraid I'd lose it :)

Be careful if you're using salt. Depending on the metal (if your pentacle is made of some kind of metal), salt can cause errosion. You can also cleanse it by passing through the smoke of incense.

After you've cleansed it, recharge it with your own energies...something positive. I don't like to do a cleansing without replacing the negative energies with something. It's like having a black hole.
