Well,
My Queensland Heeler got himself sprayed by a skunk this morning and then promptly came in and jumped on my bed...to roll around and spread the love. Does anybody know how to get skunk smell out of a bedspread? I would post a picture of the culprit, but I can't figure out how to do it _inabox_

Ugh, when I lived in Los Angeles my dog got sprayed twice. I found this recipe a long time ago and it helps ALOT in getting the smell out of the dog, but I don't know if it would work on your bedspread:

Mix the following:

1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1 teaspoon liquid soap or dish detergent
Mix these together and bathe ("shampoo" in or rub down) the spray victim thoroughly.
Be sure to use this mixture immediately after it is created, as it is unstable.
Rinse with tap water afterward, and repeat if necessary.
For spray in the eyes, flush with water as soon as possible.

Thanks!!! I need to bathe him too. I'm going to try this on the comforter as well. It can't hurt at this point, if I can't get that smell out the bedspread is going in the trash! The dog...well he's too cute so I will just keep bathing him. ;)

This may be an old wives tale, but my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. always said to wash the sprayed dog in tomato juice.

I guess you would follow up with a regular bath to get the juice out...

I know that you can buy commercial washes for animals now that have been sprayed by skunks...like this one (http://www.amazon.com/Thornell-Skunk-Off-Shampoo-8-oz/dp/B0002XJ2J0). Maybe you could also wash your sheet in it as well?

Hope you get everything de-stinked! :D

Thanks everybody! I have washed him a couple of times and the comforter too, in the first recipe by WitchJezebel, and I think it worked. My nose probably needs to be washed out too, I keep smelling it even though nobody else can. LOL
