View Full Version : Hubby's Credit Card info Stolen!

I went out to get the mail on Tuesday and found a damaged letter in our mailbox. It was my hubby's credit card statement, and it had been torn open on one side. On the front of the envelope was stamped "Received Damaged" by the Post Office.
I took it inside and showed him, and he decided he'd call the card company just to make them aware and to be on the lookout.
We found out today that nearly $1000 has already been spent on the card, through the QVC Home Shopping Network! He called to ask me if I had made any charges to them, and I have never bought anything through them in my life.
So angry right now! SOME PEOPLE REALLY SUCK!
Please send us some positive thoughts that this gets resolved fully and quickly! We are all over the phones right now, trying to figure things out and cancel things and ugh!! What a mess. :(

Hi Merrilyn
Positive and calming energies heading your way.
I do hope that you get a speed resolution to this problem.
You are right - it does suck! I had my credit card info stolen a bit back but luckily the credit card company realised something was amiss (it was used on an online gambling site - not my sort of thing at all) and it was all quickly resolved - I was sent a list of the unusual transactions and they sorted out a new card for me.
Just keep on at them!

That really sucks!
Calming, positive energy sent to you.
And, yeah, keep on the credit card company. They should resolve it for you.

:hugz: Credit card fraud is terrible! That happened to us once; somebody charged $2500 in Australia. (We're in the US and haven't been less than 10,000 miles from Australia.) The credit card company sorted it all out, cancelled our account, and sent us a new card two days later.
Hope everything works out for you, and quickly!! :hugz:

I had that happen to me once. Someone charged 15 domain names and $2000 in hosting on my card, which I never used since I have a joint account with my hubby. It was easy to resolve, fortunately. I just called the CC company and disputed the charges, and reported my card info stolen. Then I called the company that the charges were from, and made them aware as well. It had no effect on my credit, thank the Gods! I'm just glad I found it quickly!

sadly, this has been happening way too much lately... A few months ago, I checked my bank statement and noticed I was overdrawn, although I was careful to make sure not to do that... There had been a purchase at a Circle K nearby... I didn't even know we had any of those stores here, I've never seen one! I called the bank, and they took care of it for me. They got rid of the overdraft fee, credited my account, cancelled my debit card and sent me a new one, and all I had to do was fax in a simple form explaining the situation. Thankfully it was only $40 or so by the time I caught it...
good luck with getting it all sorted out.. it can be stressful and scary, but its not too hard to fix, thankfully.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, guys and gals! Things look like they're going to be resolved just fine. The credit card company was totally understanding after we faxed them the torn & stamped envelope and info we got from QVC. Turns the items were shipped to a Steven H of Kentucky.. A couple of IPODs, cameras and some other stuff were in the shipment. The police were contacted and an officer is coming tomorrow to speak with us and fill out a detailed report.
I don't know if this KY guy is even real...but we're gonna try our best fully resolve this!!
Thanks again for so much positivity... Today was my birthday and we didn't wanna deal with this craziness.
:hugz: To everybody, from both of us.
