Sagittarius people are supposed to be optimistic and life-loving and stuff, right? So why would a girl born in the middle of December feel so depressed and suicidal? Is a depressed Sagittarius a rare occurrence?
I'm also wondering if there are certain ways to relieve depression that work best depending on what your sign is? Does anyone know anything about this?
Is there any connection between signs and mental disorders?

Hi sybba_leigh. Anyone is susceptible to Mental Disorders, especially if it runs in the family. I am a Libra and I suffer not only from Depression but am Bi-Polar
(Manic Deppressive) My father is a Sagittarius and is also Manic Depressive and I probably inhereted from him. Possibly. Are you feeling suicidal? Is there anyone that you trust enough to talk to about this? Please don't do anything to hurt yourself you're scaring me.
The only way I relieved my symptoms was going to a psychiatrist. Some people don't believe in taking medications but they have saved my life.
Sybba_leigh, if you are having thoughts of suicide, it's not your fault....It is not your signs fault. It is a chemical imbalance in your brain. If something very bad has recently happened to you, a break up for instance, you will get over this in time. If it just came on by itself, like I said, it is your brains chemicals off balance.
If you need someone to talk to sybba_leigh, please please PM me. I am not just saying that. I understand completely the desperation.
Don't go through this alone. It is not a wise idea. Reach out for help. Call 911 if you feel desperate. Call a friend!! Talk to someone... ME!!!!

I dont think any particular sign is prone to mental disorders,
it takes more than being born on a certain day, or during a rare cosmic event to bring on a mental disorder...
life experience, childhood trauma, etc .... those are more realistic factors that I would say would bring on a mental disorder..
some people are born with a specific condition and it may or may not be detected untill later on in life,
but as for Astrology, I do not think there is a connection between astrology and mental illness...
Just my 2 cents..

interesting. i was just thinking that maybe if a person born under a certain sign is prone to having a certain mindset... like optomistic or pessemistic... then that might lead to being prone to being happy go lucky or extremely depressed. i dunno, the link makes sense in my mind heh.

well, you are onto something with that thought...
I mean, It is not just the sign, but the chart itself..
it is quite possible that a person's natal chart could show certain tendancys..
like "prone to agression" or "prone to psychic ability" or "prone to meticulousness" but there again, life experience and environment may either amplify or negate those tendencys depending on circumstance...
some books say "virgo's are detail oriented" "tauruses are stubburn" etc
depending on which book you read.

right, you're absolutely right that personal life experiences shape your mental health, but your sign/chart probably essentially effects the way your life experences effect your mental health. the only thing is detailed charts made to trace your mental habbits are EXPENSIVEEEEE.

no, your chart doesnt affect how your life experences will impact your mental health, your chart just shows traits, likelyhoods...
as an example,
your chart can say you would make a great painter, but then in art class you could have a very discouraging and mean teacher and that could turn you off from art, and you might not ever realize your artistic talent...
yes, some detailed charts are very expensive,
but you can go to astro.com and get a free one, and then post it here and maybe one of the astrologers here could give you a clearer picture...
charts only show potentials, and possibility, just because your chart says the moon is made of cheese, you shouldnt take it as gospel...
