OMGs! Thanks for posting Agaliha! I didn't know.

Thankfully it's not what my cats eat but I'll be e-mailing some of this info around for sure.

I was panicked too! I heard about it last night when there wasn't any more info about it. The Menu Foods sites was gone too...which worried me. They must have been updating it for the recall info, but I was like WTH? It came back on around 3am.

We have the Special Kitty (walmart brand) -- only a few cans -- but it seems only their pouches are affected, not their cans. Whew.

Lucky the Friskies and Whiskas were okay.

Considering many people do use store brand cat food, it is troubling. I hope no more cats or dogs die because of it.

This has been 'expanded' to also include Iams, Nutro, and Eukanuba, which are all very popular brands of food -- not just store brands. I highly suggest sending this around to just about everyone you know! Fortunately, I switched my dog off of Iams about 8 months ago, so I'm in the clear. (Hooray for human grade ingredients!)

I just heard about this! Thank the Gods and Goddesses above and below that I got a whole bunch of 12 packs of Friskies a few months ago. I have in the past used some of those brands, but not recently.

Thanks for posting this!

My cat ate one of the affected wet food brands for several weeks before she died. The vet told us he thought it was a swollen pancreas or a stomach tumor but we never did any tests. It really makes me wonder...

It's likely, unfortunately. :/ The recall is due to renal failure in both cats and dogs...

I had some special kitty wet cat food I threw out, just to be on the safe side.

Mine all get a mixture of dry food and RAW foods (chicken, beef, fish, etc etc). So, no worries here, thankfully.

Well they found out what was killing the animals...freaking rat poison in the food....There's going to be a press conference this afternoon to say exactly what kind of rat poison it is.
