I've been looking into telephone psychic work...it appears that almost all of the telephone psychic networks out there, are up against serious lawsuits. Almost all of them have put a hiring freeze on.
What do you think these lawsuits are a result of? Details have been very sketchy...
Could it be because of billing abuses?
Or could it be because of unethical readers dispensing unethical advice????
Anyone hear anything about it?

I haven't read anything on the subject, but what I have heard by word-of-mouth is that it has to do with billing abuses. Apparently, when people call the 800 number, they are automatically switched over to a 900 number and charged even for the first three minutes that are supposed to be free.

I once was recieving mail from the "Psychic Friends". They claimed that I owed them some money. I have no idea what it was for, and don't really care any which way.
The thing about it is...... They sent it to the wrong zip code, they didn't spell my name right, and they had my social security number all wrong. It was a suprise the mail ever ended up at my house, but it did.
I let it go for a month or two, not really thinking anything of it. Finally after getting about 15 of these bills, and them sending me to some collection agency I got really upset, and called them.
I left a message on the number I found on my bill (800 number), telling them this........ "First no friend of mine would send me to a collection agency, and your obviously not very good psychics because you got all my information wrong!"
I never recieved anything from them again.

I've seen in the news that Miss Cleo and her company are being sued. You know Miss Cleo, the one with the fake accent who claims to be a Shaman.
Since you can't disprove pyschic ability, the lawsuits are based on the billing practices - bills sent to people who'd never called, callers being switched to 900 numbers, and the fact that the "free" minutes are spent giving your name, etc. and being put on hold for someone who "specializes" in what you need.
Also mentioned, but I'm not clear on if it's part of the lawsuit, is that people receive follow up emails saying that they should call back in because Miss Cleo has important information for them.
