Spread of the Week rules / instructions:

1. A new spread will be posted weekly (hopefully I'll manage it every Thursday and we may change it to bi-weekly or monthly if weekly doesn't seem like enough time to get the readings done).

2. If you'd like to attempt the spread and have a reading done for you using that spread in return, post in the thread.

3. The first person to post will receive the first reading from the 2nd person to post, etc. So, whoever posts in front of you is who you read for, and whoever posts behind you is who is reading for you.

4. The readings should be posted in the thread so that others can read them (after all, this is for the purposes of learning and we all learn better by reading over examples by others) UNLESS the reader deems that the information is too personal to be shared on an open board. If that is the case, then the reader should PM the person they are reading for, but post in the thread that the results were personal and their querent has been PM'd with the results of the reading.

5. Do not post in the threads if you are not willing to read for others. This is a reading exchange, not a free reading.

6. Use only the spread posted. You may use whatever deck you like.

If anyone else can think of any additional questions or rules, please let me know and I'll edit this post. I think the rules should be posted as the first post every week.

If you have a spread you'd like to submit for the "Spread of the Week", PM me and I'll add it to the queue. Potential spreads should be 10 cards or less, for ease of posting and to not overwhelm newbies who'd like to participate.

As usual, the first person to respond will read for me, and I will read for the last person to respond. :)

So, this week I though that we could continue with the "story telling" idea.

Let's all ask a specific question, and then the reader will draw 5 cards. No actual positions, just tell a story with those cards about the client's question.

Simple? Easy? We'll see!

*Lisa is just too lazy to do any work this week*

Edited to add my question: Will my new business be a success?

edited to add: Should I look for a new apartment?

Thanks, Zephyr! I've edited the original post to include my question... you should edit yours for your question too, for the next person to respond. :)

The Rider Tarot deck
7-swords, 2-staves, 4-staves, temperance, 8 of swords

:) Once upon a time, a woman began the first steps of her new business. She was carrying many hopes and dreams, but there was confidence filling her. She was moving forward, and trying to remember the lessons she learned in the past.
She felt disatisfied with the things she had, and her attention was drawn to what she had never had. She wanted more. She had visions of beauty and concord.
As she moved forward with the business, she found that the competition was fierce. The balance of maintaining the business was difficult, but rewarding.
Over time, the woman began to understand how much work and struggle a business can be. She wanted time off, but the business needed her.

(I drew a card for closure and clarification. - Page of Swords)
She needed to find balance between the demands of the business against the needs of her own being. She needed to take time to examine how to walk the tightrope, to know what she wanted, and to delegate and assert herself.
She took the time to do just that...

(this was really hard for me. :) What a great challenge.
The past tense and fairly neutral "she" was the only way I could even approach a story. ;) )

Excellent! Wow, what a great job! I wasn't even really expecting a story in that sense. :) Wonderful and thanks so much. I can see how I could go overboard with this and have it eating up all of my time. Thanks for the forewarning.

I'm reading for Shatril. Her question was: Am I going to get enough work this year?

Using the Archangel Oracle deck from Doreen Virtue, these cards were drawn:

Remember Who You Are
Archangel Michael: "You are a powerful, loving, and creative child of God. You are very loved."

Relationship Harmony
Archangel Raguel: We angels are opening the hearts of everyone involved. Arguments and conflicts are being resolved now."

Indigo and Crystal Children
Archangel Metatron: "You have a bond with children. In particular, you can help children who are sensitive."

Moon Cycles
Archangel Haniel: "Notice how the moon affects your energy and manifestations, and capitalize upon these cycles."

Teaching and Learning
Archangel Zadkiel: "Keep an open mind, and learn new ideas. Then, teach these ideas to others."

You are in a creative field, or you do creative work in a field that is not technically itself considered creative. Think about how can you modify your work so that it's more aligned with your interests.
There has been tension with work partners or clients and this has been the source of some of your questioning whether there will be enough work. Visualize everyone involved being cooperative and open-minded, even if they have not been. Your being so and keeping a positive attitude about it could rub off on others and positively influence the situation.
Your work either involves children, or if it doesn't you need to consider how you can branch out somewhat that way. There are many ways of looking at this. Write children's books, illustrate them, bake cakes for children's parties, paint pictures of children, whatever your creative field is see how you can incorporate children. Or it could be that you need to approach your work with a childlike sense of wonder about it. Try to see it with new and excited eyes.
Can you teach your skill, to adults or children?

The Moon Cycles card is not directly pertaining to your work, but is saying that you can capitalize on lunar energies for general assistance. I can't put it any better than what the book I have for this deck says:
"The full moon is a perfect time to release anything you're done with, the new moon is the time to focus on manifesting desires and intentions, and the evening before the full moon is an optimal time for healing, and for recharging healing instruments such as crystals and oils."

Overall, there'll be enough work but you need to branch out in ways you haven't previously considered. The work is there, but it may take a bit of creativity on your part to find it.

My question: would buying that Harley Davidson motorcycle I want be wise?

Umm, ok, I''ll do it, I'm a newbie at this so here goes

Darbla;Would buying that Harley Davidson be wise?
Shapeshifter Tarot

Card 1) Success ( 9 of Pentacles)
Card 2)Fortune (2 of Wands)
Card 3) Victory (6 of Wands)
Card 4) Oneness (The World)
Card 5) Harmony (4 of Wands)

At this stage, you been successful in financial endeavors, and brought yourself good fortune as you are bold, and willing to take a few stings to get what you need, You have been victorious in your life, and the Universe has brought hard earned harmony and contentment, and synchronity has been a constant companion. As most of these cards drawn were Air, which symbolizes freedom and movement, remember that as you feel the wind in your face, and ride out over the horizon, to enjoy the honey of your labors.

My question

Should I send my daughter to Headstart?

Darbla,

Thanks for the reading. It just confirms some things I already felt were true, and gives me somethings to look at as regards avenues of expression.

Thanks again, and great job.

Question: Should I look for a new apartment?
Gendron Deck
Cards drawn:
5 of Cups
9 of Pentacles Reversed
Hierophant Reversed
Ace of Swords
Wheel of Fortune Reversed

The place where you live now has lost its charm.. you feel very negative about where you're living and it seems to only hold unpleasant feelings for you now. You're worried, though, about the financial implications of moving; perhaps you don't feel like you can afford a new place, or you're worried about taking on additional expense. Either way, though - where you are is making you feel stifled and repressed. You need a new beginning, a new environment to allow you some room to grow, and you need space in which to develop your creativity and explore new ideas. Be careful, though - don't take on more than you can handle, and don't expect a new place to solve all your problems; it isn't the answer to everything, and change for its own sake can sometimes cause its own problems. So, to sum it all up; exploring new places to live might help you find a place to grow as an individual, but be careful that whatever you do is well thought out and well planned.

:) I don't know if this answers your question, but I hope it's useful. :D

Are you saying I actually got close on something? Huh. That's the first I've ever read for somebody else and I figured I didn't get even near to what you have going on. I figured you'd never comment on it because it was so far off-base and you wouldn't want to embarass me. But I wouldn't have cared since it was the first time I'd ever tried. Since this was a thread for practice I just blurted out what was running thru my mind without thinking too seriously on it.

I can definitely see me looking for the perfect place, and losing my sense of budget over it. And I can see changing apartments just because. We want a place with more space.
All the more so now that some friends and I are wanting to have Tarot and Tea get-togethers at my place. :)

Well just blurting out what is on your mind is making that connection with your intuition. Sometimes if you think too hard on it, your logic gets in the way and that can actually ruin a reading. You did a good job on this one. Like I said, you confirmed things I knew in the back of my mind, and gave some courses of action for me. Keep up the good work. I would not have guessed this was your first reading.

Darbla, I'm so glad you decided to make this your first reading! You did a great job and Shatril is right, blurting it out even if it doesn't make sense to you is often what makes the most sense to your client / querent.

I hope you keep participating with the spreads of the week, they are a great way for all of us to practice & learn. :hugz:

For Brightshores.

My question: What do my job prospects look like over the next several months?

Using the Archeon deck... Death, Magician, Nine of Cups, Seven of Wands, Ten of Swords.

There will be some major shift, a significant change - the death of your current job, or lack thereof, and the birth of something new and by the looks of things, something exciting. The world will lay itself out to you, and it's up to you to make of it what you choose. Past success and accomplishments have given you the mental fortitude and determination to do well. But I think something personal, some significant loss or hurt, has the potential to derail you - be careful it doesn't defeat you completely.

Hmm.. This looks like a good thing. A complete change would be very welcome right now... Perhaps the "personal" issue in the last three cards indicate that my career needs to take a back seat to my family, or it will totally overwhelm me. Either way... this reading was interesting and meaningful and I will definitely take some time to consider it! Thank you so much for reading for me. :hugz: :D

Reading for Glory using The Witches Tarot

I drew cards until I had one in each row. The cards are three of swords, Princess of swords, Queen of cups and The Chariot. The story goes. Once upon a time there was a princes that sooo wanted to great on her school work, and there was a helping hand for that process. There was also a woman scholar that was integral in helping the princess find the right path to learning the lessons, that in the end there was a great celebration of her triumphal sucess at her lessons.

From what I see here, you will do very well thanks to some help from several of your teachers/professors. I say you will do a smashing job.

Should I send my daughter to HeadStart?

3 of Swords, 10 of Pents, Strength, Queen of Cups, Two of Swords

Once upon a time there was a young mother who loved her child(ren) very much. She nurtured them and read stories to them and helped them to learn and grow.

One day, she knew is was getting close to the time when they would have to go off to school. This broke the young mother's heart. She didn't want to be separated from the child(ren). She would be sad and cry to see them go, and she knew that they young ones would suffer from separation anxiety.

She knew that going to school was an important step for her child(ren), but the idea that they would be gone from her and she would not be in charge of their education while they were still so young, was making her decision to send them to school harder. She wanted to make sure that her ideas and ideals were what her child(ren) were going to grow up with. She wanted to make sure that they had individual attention and support.

But one day, she decided to visit the classroom. She saw lots of children making crafts and playing in centers. She saw teachers helping some children while others played and had fun. Then the teachers would call the children together for group activities. The children were read stories and seemed to be having a good time. The teachers were patient and nurturing, but firm with the students.

The young mothers fears were somewhat put to rest, even though she was still concerned because her child was special and would need the extra help. Talking with the the teachers and seeing the other children helped to alleviate some, but not all of her fears.

She decided to try sending her child to the school. She knew that even though both of them would be sad to be away from each other, that they would both grow from this experience. Letting go for the first time is always difficult, but she knew that her child would gain many skills from the school. And maybe she'd have a little bit of time for herself too!

(Ok, my opinions of HeadStart colored this a bit, sorry! I loved that my kids went and I think it did them a world of good, but I can see how you might be a bit apprehensive. I would suggest going & checking it out like the woman in the story. :) )

I'm also sorry it was so late. It was a helluva week and Friday night was the absolute worst. I took yesterday to recover & become human again.
