No, not bearberry. I'm looking for a recipe for traditional kinnikinnick. I know many of the traditional ingredients - bearberry, sage, yerba santa, tobacco, red willow, sumac, mullein, but can't find actual recipes suggesting the combinations or proportions of those herbs.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I think I know what you mean and I found nothing on the web, either. I don't remember yerba santa in it but I could be wrong. I do think juniper was in there. grrrrrr it seems so familiar, dose it maybe have another name?

Just variations on kinnikinnick - kinnick-innick, kinnick-kinnick, etc. I've found a few references to it, here (http://www.tahtonka.com/kinnick.html), for instance, or here (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.folklore.herbs/tree/browse_frm/month/2003-06/6d845a0882e0f7dc?rnum=171&_done=%2Fgroup%2Falt.folklore.herbs%2Fbrowse_frm%2Fmonth%2F2003-06%3F). I have or have access to most of the ingredients, I just have no idea about proportions and such.

I remember you could use it as an incense too, and it smelled real sweet. I'll keep digging.

Sorry, all that came to my mind was the kinnikinnick river. _inabox_
