Hello all. I'm thinking a bit of collaborative imput would be very helpful here. I have been asked to speak to a group of folks about Meditation, Centering, and Grounding, and I am supposed to speak on the subject(s) for approximately an hour and a half (it will be very informal).

I have plenty of information on 'Meditaton', like its history, types, posture and hydration, purposes and effects, fitting it into your busy life, etc...

I am looking for more information on centering and grounding. I know all three of these topic tie into another, obviously, but I do believe they are also their own actions and would like to clarify that. Everything on the net ties meditation into centering and grounding, so how should I word it to show that centering and grounding aren't just different types of meditation; that they are useful and neccesary to magical workings by their own right? Does anyone have any good definitions or sites I can go to to find reference? I would appreciate any input and help.

Thank you.

I'm sure someone will answer in detail, but I'll put my two cents in first.

For me centering is the process of pulling awareness into the "center" of my body and mind. It is about focus, and about mindfulness.

Grounding is the process of pulling excess personal energy from within me and turning it over to the earth (or some other appropriate element). And in return taking more calm, grounded energy to replace it. For me grounding is a form of healing.

Hopes that helps.
