Ok, I have not read any of these books, but thought I would put them up for reference. (and because I want the links saved for me) All of these I have found in the Rainbow Resource catalog. While RR is typically Christian, they offer thousands of books for homeschoolers from many different perspectives. All of what I am listing is from the history sections in the catalog and is directly linking to the product on their website.

I am not trying to push RR or these materials, but I really don't feel like typing their reviews again here for several reasons. I do not work for them or benefit in any way...it's just where I found the information.

This is a very small amount of what is in the catalog, but some of what I found interesting. BTW, you can't really browse their website...it's meant so that you can order by number in the catalog.

These are mostly all under 10 dollars, but I usually shop around before ordering from them. Usually they are cheapest, but not always.

I can't wait to begin doing this stuff with my daughter. Sadly that's a few years away. But thank you for doing this research.

I've heard good things about RR's prices too.

I started reading stories from mythology with my kids very early on. There are lots of kids' picture books that tell one story from mythology that my kids really enjoyed. Try asking the librarian for help to find them as they arent in the fiction section; theya re often in the religion section of the nonfiction books. There is also a section of folklore books in the nonfiction part of the library with tales in the form of picture books from all over the world of fairies, elves, mystical beasts and such as well.

You know, I really should go to the library more often. But honestly, it scares me to death. I have no idea why it's so scary, I probably should get over that.

Thanks for the list of resources... this will be very handy.

You know, I really should go to the library more often. But honestly, it scares me to death. I have no idea why it's so scary, I probably should get over that.

The day after I withdrew Maddy from public school we went to the Public library. We had been there before but hadnt really talked to anyone other then when checking out books. We went right up to the children's librarian... introduced ourselves, told her we were new homeschoolers and had her show us around. She taught Maddy how to use the computer card catalogue... how to order a book from intra-library loan... and how to find a book in the stacks. (Library Studies) Since then we have gone 1 to 2 times a week... and they recognize us and when we ask for help finding something they usually bring us more sources then we can use lol.

We love our library now, but I have to admit... i was scared at first too.
