If I'm correct in my guess, I'm probably not the only person to have had an experience where they had a vision of something that was about to occur and then witnessed it at a later point in time. I do have a few questions for y'all, however.

1. Have you ever had a predominant theme behind your visions?
2. Have you ever had your visions come to you with out warning?
3. Do you think there is a method to controlling your visions (ie: when they come)?

For my part, I've noticed three themes behind my visions. First is I often seem to have warnings of family tragedies or suffering a few months before they happen. Second is that I will usually be experienceinc the vision from a 3rd person perspective, if I am immersed in them, they usually put me into a semi-catatonic state as I am caught in the grips of the Sight. Third, most of my visions are of some form of misfortune. Only rarely will I see something that would be a happy or pleasant thing.

I've had visions come to me in my sleep, usually those wake me and I'm still caught in them for about 5 or ten minutes afterwards. After that, I write them down. The ones that have no warning are the visions that hit me during my waking moments. I will be in the middle of a conversation or walking some where and there will be something that catches my eye. I've been known to carry on a conversation while gazing at some random object for no apparent reason, asking later what we were discussing and forgetting the entire conversation because I only remember the vision.

I think it is possible to bring visions to you, like by using tarot or other divination tools. I've yet to find a away to control them when they come to me unexpectedly. That and the mild nausea that hits right after the really intense ones (where I'm pulled into the vision) is rather maddening. Has anyone else experienced this?

Em Hotep,
I have visions usually when I have this certain feeling almost like "I have to go mediate now...". I always see Wesir (Osiris) just standing in front of me and sometimes a red castle. Rarely do I see Goddess and once I saw a wolf so Iam working on those. I feel as if its my calling Wesir tells me when he wants me.

Yes, I talk to my cat,

I generally have insights come to me at random, and the locale and settings are diffferent each time, but the theme generally includes a man and a woman speaking to me...sometimes they are young and sometimes old...but their faces are always the same, I would say they resemble the Norse type, mainly...whatever that means...hehehe And the subject is always different...I sometimes freak people out, because it is so random.

I have only ever had one vision.
I was having brunch at a restraunt with my hubby, and in the middle of the conversation, out of the blue, it happened. I got an image of myself standing in a sunny living room, wearing a yellow sundress and I was about 7 months pregnant. I was rubbing my tummy, and was very content.
Now, that vision hasn't come true yet, but I know that's what it was, and that it eventually will.
I'd love to be able to figure out how to make myself have more visions......

At the time when this happened I thought I was losing my marbles. So did the guy I was with.

It was about 15 years ago. Myself and a guy I was dating at the time were coming back from the mall after doing some holiday shopping. It was snowing really bad at the time and the storm had come from nowhere while we were in the mall.
About 2 blocks away from an intersection, I got an extremely uneasy feeling. I needed to get out of the car and quick. I was overcome with a picture that flashed of the intersection up ahead and a white car pulling out in front of us and we hit them hard.
Not 30 seconds later, we were upon that intersection and I began to grab hold of anything I could and I told him to stop. I yelled at him to stop.
The white vehicle pulled out in front of us and he hit the brakes. We slid, but avoided the collision. I was sick with nausea and dizziness. I could never explain how I knew. I just told him that I had a really sick feeling that wouldn't go away. He was upset with me because I had screamed and had distracted him from the road. I think to this day, that my screaming is why he hit the brakes. We never spoke about again. I think it scared him. (heck, it scared me!)
I have never experienced anything so visual since then, but I never doubt my gut instinct. It has saved my buns on more than one occasion. Sometimes, it is not right on target, but it is quite frequently too, so who I am to play roulette.

Reanna, I had a couple experiences like yours. I think the one that shook me the most was seeing my own death and the death of my then boyfriend. We were crossing an intersection with a blind curve on a hill (which I later found out was infamous for car accidents for that reason!!) and a tractor trailer came around the curve. In the vision, we were in the middle of the street when I looked up and saw the truck coming at us. Then, everything went black and there was alot of pain.

I kept having this dream for almost a month before this happened. Then, he and I were at that intersection. He teased me for looking very carefully, but I also had that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as I started to cross the street. Something tapped me on the shoulder as I was about to take my next step and I looked over and saw the truck. Then, everything seemed to slow down. I stepped back, grabbed my boyfriend's shirt and pulled him back behind me. The truck passed close enough to me where if I really wanted to I could have reached out and touched it. <shudders>

And then, of course, my wretch of an ex-boyfriend had to start screaming at me that if I let him walk across the street, he wouldn't have been hit. <shudders again> Let's just say that the day got progressively worse after that. But that's a different story. Aside from that, the other experiences involved a minor car accident I was in, a few oddly common things in a sequence (dropping a pencil, opening a book, and then answering a question, I still can't figure that one out), and my ex raping me. The car accident, I was able to make a minor one instead of something severe, the sequence happened and that was about it, and well... my ex didn't kill me when he was done with me.

Oh My Gosh!!!!
These intuitions can prove to be very beneficial. Preventing harm is a good thing, I try and stay very on my toes when I get those feelings in regards to anything to do with my kids. I couldn't bear it if anything should happen to them. (especially, if I ignored the little voice)
I am so sorry to hear of the nasty ex. (!!#@) (goof) Eventually, he will reap what he sows. I have seen it happen.
Thank you for sharing. I assume it must be difficult to talk about. I hope it didn't cause you any unnecessary grief. (((big hugs))) to you.

I have them and then I also have the "knows it" which is what my hubby calls it when the telephone rings and I say who it is on the other end before he answers or I tell him it is going to ring.
Visions come to me awake and asleep.
I have also to meet someone and I know what is happening or going to with them and no it always strikes without warning it is never the same people nor do I know them half the time. Anyone else experience this?

I know my ex was a lummox, a schmuck, and many other less kind epithets that can be used to describe men like him. (Even though I am loath to call them men!) But I'm doing a lot better and that was about 6 years ago. I'm in a wonderful relationship now with a man who actually respects me and he's even in love with me. A very confusion situation at times, I promice you, but I'm starting to figure out how to relax and enjoy the ride, even if it does seem like a whirlwind most of the time. <lol>

It doesn't bother me too much to talk about it. I was actually considering starting a thread discussing how the craft and paganism has helped us to recover from personal trauma, but I've been feeling rather shy about the idea of it. <blushes> And, I'm rambling again. lol

Fawn, I've to admit, I haven't had the "knows it" thing happen to me all that much. I have been told that it happened to me alot when I was younger however. I think that the messed up relationship with my ex probably had me shutting down alot of my gifts as a defense mechanism to keep myself from being hurt even more on that level. <shrugs> Let's just say, he was scary for a lot of reasons.

Cydira,

I think the idea of a thread would be a very good idea...It will give others a chance to compare notes and learn about possible ways to improve on the relationships we are currently involved in.

Great Idea!

Cydira thanks so much for starting this thread! I have just only recently started to open my eyes up to visions in my every day life and in my dreams, and I really do think it would be an excellent idea to start a thread about how paganism has helped us to recover from personal trauma :D I know it has helped me get over and build so much in recent years! I am so much more happier, content, self loving and stronger through my beliefs and all the tecniques and knowledge that I have learnt.
Goddess & God ~ Thank you from the bottom of my heart and all my soul :D

In answer to your questions about visions ~
1. Have you ever had a predominant theme behind your visions?
Yes, my inner goddess ~ although I have only just very recently opened up to this and really started to explore my spirit guide ~ she is the goddess ~ whispering in my ear, while I meditate, telling me things, teaching me ways of the craft and guiding me though my dreams.

2. Have you ever had your visions come to you with out warning?
Yes, a few weeks ago I had an awful one when I was with my mother ~ I relaised that like the death of her child (my sister) she had, had a sister who died and her mother had, had a sister who died as a child too ~ my sister died of cot death when she was 6 months old and it turns out this is a pattern in our family.
I asked my mum if this was true and she couldnt believe how I knew!
Neither could I, except I had just had the flash that the same would happen to me! ~ But I now know that I can change my future at any time, so I now will stop this line and give birth to three daughters! :D

3. Do you think there is a method to controlling your visions (ie: when they come)?
No I don't, but I know through my dreams ~ the more I search the more I learn!
:D

I used to have pretty violent visions, too, the kind that pull you out of the world and drop you somewhere else. The first one was when i was about 14 or 15, Christmas eve; i was watching a movie, and i just got this really powerful "Oh my God, I'm going to die" feeling. After that, it got worse and worse, and the longer it lasted, the more i realized that it wasn't me i was feeling for-- but i couldn't name who it was for. For three or four hours, i sat curled up on my bed, crying, not knowing why i was crying, and holding onto eveything that was me so it wouldn't all go flying out of my body. I had to remind myself to breathe ::shudder:: and couldn't sleep for days. I found out later that all this happened at the exact time a friend of the family was having a nervous breakdown and trying to kill herself.

The second time was after a double date, about three years later, after i started practicing. I was making out and i just gat overwhelmed by this sadness, like all the sadness of the world. Then my friend-- the one we'd doubled with-- called me and told me she'd just had a miscarriage.

I think it takes something this big to get through to us when we aren't trying to have visions. Since i started working on developing my intuition, these big scary visions have mostly gone away-- though the feeling of them comes back sometimes-- and the smaller predicting sort of things have gotten more common. Now i know when the phone is for me, and when i'll get letters in the mail, and when people will come to see me, stuff like that.

Now, also, i use runes and tarot, so maybe the raw talent that made the visions is being channeled and isn't so unpredictable now...
