Alright...i hope this is the right place for this but if not then feel free to move it. I'm bored so i've been sitting around just thinking all day. I was just thinking about the different medicines and their 'side effects' such as hallucinations and such. I hope this doesn't sound wierd but does certain medicines actually alter your mind to make you think something is there or does/can it really OPEN that door to really 'see' or come in contact with other things? For instance-i was given percocet (oxycodone) and i had hallucinations. It did however say that it was a side effect of the medicine. Could whatever i THOUGHT i saw actually have been there?

You know, I have wondered that myself at times, although not about medication induced... just about hallucinations in general. I didn't sleep for a week once and I saw shadowy people all over the place.

Most likely no. Any time you do or take anything that can cause hallucinations, anything you think you see just can't be considered a reliable sighting unless what you think you saw left some kind of physical evidence behind. The fact that hallucinations are a listed side effect of this particular medication pretty much rules out "real experience" as a likelihood.

Happens all the time. Hallucinegens can open doors whether you want them to or not.

I'm not too sure about medications giving you hallucinations.....although I took WAY too much adderall and was up for two days straight and started seeing things running across the road as I was driving home late that night.

I am somewhat experienced in hallucinations(take it from someone who's taken acid at least 6 times and shrooms 4 times; I'm not too proud about that but its helpful when I can talk people out of doing it)

I've seen too many crazy things on drugs:awwman:

as for percocet, I've only ever been chilled when I took it, especially when playing Zelda's Wind Waker.

If you ever have questions on drugs and such check this site: erowid.org; they have TONS of info should you ever need it

Entheogens, DMT, mescaline, datura, salvia, etc. are all substances that have been used to open gateways into mystical experiences which can include seeing beings that you believe to be there. Some people believe they're really there, some don't.
