Mol and Semele have already picked out a beautiful name - Trinity - for their new addition if she's a girl. There's still about 7 1/2 months to go and they're open to other suggestions. So, let's all contribute and take a vote when the time draws near.
If you happen to know the meaning of the name, this would be very helpful.

For today, I like Trinity, but I'm sure I'll have a few more as time goes on.

Girls:
Brazil is a pretty name (it's unisex but I think it would sound better for a girl) but it's a place so that makes it kinda crappy but it's Irish (oddly enough), and means brave.
Or you could name her Fallon :D which apparently means "in charge" how appropriate. ;)
Evita (which is Spanish) means life
I’ve always liked the name Jade. If I ever have a girl I would name her that.
Cori is a cool name too

Boys:
Asher is name I’ve always like.
Lee is a neat name but it's like Brazil some people can't pull it off.
But I've got really wired buddies named Richard, and Bobby (which I guess would be Robert). So stay away from the "R" names. :D

I have been looking at names recently for my future child. We are going to start "trying" in May. My favorite site for looking up names is Behind The Name (http://www.behindthename.com/). I also like mythological names a bit. We are actually considering Pandora as a female name.

Trinity is OK, but I think it has a sort of "Christian" feel to it. The Blessed Trinity and all... There's a three petalled flower called a Trillium, what about a feminine variation like Trillia? Or something Latin like Divia? Boys names are harder, you need to try to find something thats not going to get them beat up in the schoolyard when they get older. I had a thought... Patch, like Patch Adams. Rafe... If my third kid Sean had been a girl, she would have been Heather Rose. Good Luck

I like trinity. It's beautiful. It makes me think of the infinate beauty and possibilities in the universe! hehe and it also made me think of the three, maiden mother and crone. ^^;; I never even THOUGHT about "holy trinity" until Raindancer mentioned it. . .

lol I also like names that are off-shoots of Elizabeth. . . but then it would be silly to mention them, because my name is elizabeth! hehe don't wanna sound like that.

Keri is a pretty name. :) But I really like Trinity.

Trinity is really pretty, too :)

Just don't do what my friend did...go into sensory overload.

The name she wound up choosing wasn't so bad..Sierra Dawn, but at one point, she was pondering..

Coral Rose, and her last name was another word for "Flowers".

Coral Rose "Flowers". Hello??? blech. Sorry..i just always thought that that sounded like a future "Stripper" name or something. Glad she didn't choose that.

Trinity? Too Matrix. May as well name her The Manhattan Project.

You're lucky Mol. Get this.. my girlfriend wants her kids to name themselves. Have you ever heard of anything more ridiculous??? What do you call them for the two years it takes them to learn how to speak coherently? "Hey You"... was her answer. She is a nutball. Somehow she thinks that her daughters and sons will just spontaneously "choose" the names she wants for them, namely Brandon and Ivy. But they'll probably end up naming themselves Bulbasaur or Smurfette or whatever 2 year olds are into in the future. Jeez.

The old names never go out of style. In this case, I advise the oldest: Eve.

I love Trinity for a girl. That is so simple and beautiful.

Illy, I'm curious...if your girlfriend has more than one child, would she call them "hey you #1" and "hey you #2"? The names kids would come up with at that age could be very interesting. When my son was 3, we let him name our dog. The dog's name is Jawge.

Yvonne Belisle
April 22nd, 2002, 01:18 PM
Eve has it's issues too as they get older. I can't tell you how many times i have heard "Hi, my name is Adam" The only time it was true the poor guy turned a good shade of red and pulled out his wallet to introduce himself while studdering it was cute. :)

Trinity is beautiful I vote for keeping it!! And then using one of the other great names for a middle name?

I used my Grandmothers names when I named my daughter. Added to the Dora and came up with Dorissa and then used Suzanne for the middle name.

I think Trinity's kind of a cool name. Other girls' names I like are Kerry (for Ceridwen) and Lucia (light).

I've always let my cats name themselves (more or less) by their behavior. Hence I've had a Sassy, a Shadow, a Fancy, a Dancer... well, you get the idea. Letting a kid name themselves I see as leading to disasters such as Picabo, Pooper, Princess Leia, or Barbie!

Loralei--melody

Trinity is a v. pretty name,though. ^_ ^

Exactly. Her kids are going to be named after cartoons or bugs or food, or whatever else 2 year olds are into. I could not bear bringing my kids to a picnic and having to introduce them as my lovely children, Pudding and Batman.

Stephanie
Angelina (my grandma's name)
Arianna (my neice's name)

Boys:

Hunter (my nephew's name)

My kid bro & his wife are pregnant again. They've decided on the name Shane spelled either "Shane" for a boy or "Shayne" for a girl.

***NOTE TO WITCHYCHK13 Yes, J is naming the kid after a girl we went to school with!***

:T I liked it because it was ex-husband's name, no one was named that - until I named MY son that - then it was the most popular name that year (1980)......

Also had Stephanie chosen for girl - is Stevie Nicks' actual name, and Avedon for boy, not sure why I didn't choose that.....

Wanted a girl so bad with third one, so disappointed, he didn't have a name til he was 3 days old! :(

Jessica, Crystal, Joshua and Stephen, a million of them in my school!

You might want to check and see what names are super popular so you can avoid them...:D

Honorah-means honor, Nori is a cute nickname and means precious in Japanese

Asteria-Greek I believe, means of the starry sky

Brighid would be a cool name to go with Trinity

Trinity Brighid or Bridget Trinity or something like that. A Pagan trinity honoring the three faced Celtic goddess.

Curran is nice for a guy, Rory is nice too

Conor and Arthur are some other faves of mine...

Trinity is an awesome name, I would definitely go with that!

Earthcup: Nori can also mean seaweed. O.o So you have to be careful when choosing a name from another language.. it can have more than one meaning, depending on the kanji used.

If you want to go Japanese, "Utsukushii" is a bit long, and open for ridicule, but it means beautiful.

Names I've always liked are:

Ariadin (a friend of mine named her daughter that)
Faye (good friend of mine is named that)
Abigail
Kelly (comes from the Irish Kalleigh, meaning warrior)
April (means open)
Adelle (sister's middle name)
Luna (i know it's very video-game)
Mary
Brigid
Heather

www.babynames.com is full of names and meanings. You can do a search for the meaning and they'll give you names, or vice versa. :) Happy hunting!

I agree with the other, don't let your daughter name herself. If she absolutely hates it, she can change it later. If my parents allowed me to choose my own name, I would be introducing myself as Rainbow Brite Ferguson.
