what are the properties in this stone?

Do you call it Helenite or do you refer it as emerald obsidianite?

Because I was born the month that it Mt. St. Helen's exploded, and my mom and I kind of use it as my birthstone. I have a couple of nicely cut stones, one is in a ring with black hills gold leaves around it in rose gold, and green gold, the ring itself is in white gold... Its a favorite ring of mine, the stone is round cut and its open in the back so it does touch skin. (love that!)

The other is a big emerald cut in yellow gold with those black hills gold leaves at the top.
Its not my favorite piece because of the gold, i would rather it be in silver, but I can change that any o'l time...

okay enough rambling...

I think this is the best explaination of this I have ever seen. Before Wolfsong's post it was refered to as green glass that was junk or someone just scamming the public . It was not worth being considered a real healing stone.

I wondered if it had anything due to the fact that it wasnt just made from man made sand and fire... but the fact that it was from a volcano i wondered if it made a difference.

I was walking around a gem and jewlery show where they sold beads and glass and real gems asking about it and we were looked at like I was crazy.

I like crazy. :hahugh:

basically it's green glass that is mixed with the ash. the glass itself from what i gather didn`t come from the volcano. for i know they coulda used 7-up or green beer bottles to get the glass. well the ash in the volcano would make the difference.
