from the Book of Satan, chapter I verses 2 & 3.

1 "Open youre eyes that you may see, Oh men of mildewed minds, and listen to me ye bewildered millions."

2. "For I stand forth to challenge the wisdom of the world; to interrogate the "laws" of man and of God!"

(will give my interpretation when im mentally stable, RS is NOT good company atm.)

Essential blasphemy. An few attention-grabbing lines to captivate the reader, and set the scene for the coming chapter.

It really does let you know a bit more of what's to come. How this will go on further to challenge the 7 Deadly Sins.

Yes, it sounds like addressing Christians primarily. Since I did my own part in challenging and interrogating, I doubt it's addressing me. Thus a highly commercial attitude. Would do well in these commercial times.

Quite.

We must remember the Satanic bible doesn't have the liberty of 1950 years of marketing and international funding.

Ergo, parts of it NEED to be sensationalist to generate the publicity needed.

while it could be taken at face value as previously mentioned. it could also be taken like this.

1 "Open youre eyes that you may see, Oh men of mildewed minds, and listen to me ye bewildered millions."

2. "For I stand forth to challenge the wisdom of the world; to interrogate the "laws" of man and of God!"

do not blindedly accept everthing you hear or read as truth but question that which has been told/taught to you and search out the truth for yourselves, dont just be mindless followers.

Book of Satan, chapter I verses 2 & 3.

1 "Open youre eyes that you may see, Oh men of mildewed minds, and listen to me ye bewildered millions."

Well this could have come from any book of spiritual guidance in the world, including the Bible

2. "For I stand forth to challenge the wisdom of the world; to interrogate the "laws" of man and of God!"

I'm not sure that I wouldn't challenge the wisdom of the world and laws of man at this point myself, and I'm convinced that we haven't got the laws of God right either. So these verses do not conflict with what most pagans and heathens do believe. The only difference is the attribution of the works to satan (LaVay) rather than Jehovah, Buddha, or Allah or even Shatril

I read this story a while ago, and love it for what is says. I believe this completely.

The devil and a companion were walking along the street when they say a man bend down and pick something up off the street.

The companion ask, "What did the man pick up?"

The devil replied, "A piece of the truth."

The companion said, "That's bad business for you isn't it."

To which the devil responded, "Not at all. I'm going to let him organize it."

The same thing is happening to Satanism, and it isn't going to do any better that Christianity as coming close to the inner truth that we all should be seeking. Just my $.02 worth.

The opening clauses of the Satanic Bible scream organized religion. Gag me with a Barbie Doll leg.

Added second thought. We should be thanking organzied religion for keeping the bible and other mystical books in print for those who can actually read it and become enlightened by the teachings. What an insight this is. Everything serves a useful purpose even when we just can't quite see the value eh!

If you take out the 'invisible guy in the sky' part of Christianity. It's actually a pretty good idea.

This is exactly how I would have taken it to mean. Basic principal every child should be taught - be not a sheep, as we only use sheep to warm our backs and fill our stomachs as we create our own path...

I believe what you said completely, however, I'm not sure that I get that out of those two lines.

To me it sounds like he is stirring the pot, and questioning the validity of the laws for sure, and that is part of what you wrote there. However, that is as far as it goes in those lines. If there is more, then I don't know that as I don't have the book. There is nothing about seeking truth for yourself in that line. In fact, It sounds almost like he wants to tear the top of your head off, and dump his beliefs directly into your mind, with no thought on your part. Can't wait to see what the next lines are gonna be.

This reminds me of another quote:
"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." – Buddha

Your interpretation is exactly what my thoughts were reading the lines.
So, of course, I think your interpretation was superb!!

I love some of Buddhas teachings. I follow this one as often as my conscious mind remembers too. I do falter sometimes and forget to think twice.

I do naturally make a lousy sheeple though. :)

Haha, reminds me of a saying a mate used to have on the bottom of his emails "Do not have too much of an open mind, in case your brain falls out" or something to that effect.

The Buddha quote is so on the mark though, and really, why would you accept and believe what another says if your insides are screaming against it?
