* He quietly passed on. Thank you all for the energy and wishes.

Everyone around here raises ringnecks. They are popular for backyard birds and dinner. One neighboring bird made its way to the highway only to get hit by a car.
Since ringnecks are only $2.45 out here, he would just become dinner or left to die. No one around here would take the time to help him, heck you eat them.
But he is only 1 years old and absolutely beautiful and his injuries seem to be not life threatening but maybe debilitating. I don't want to eat him but I do want to save him so he can just live life. So I have the chance save his life.

He was hit in his backside. Most of the damage appears to be bruising and some tearing of the skin. I couldn't find one broken bone on him. He cant walk, cant support his own weight, from what seems to be all the soft tissue and muscle damage. He has good circulation to his legs and feet...I'm real happy about that.

He is eating but with force feeding, kinda. He is willing to eat if the food is placed in his mouth for him.
He poos perfectly fine and drinks fine.

He cant fly at all but that could be because he cant get lift and the fact that domestics are heavier, smaller tailed and smaller winged, and not very well suited to flight to begin with. His wings are perfectly fine.

Its a 50/50 chance he will make it. The shock, physical trauma, being removed from his flock, all are against him.

But I am hoping with effort he will heal and be able to live here without becoming dinner. He is to beautiful to eat.

I sprayed his wounds with anti-septic. I haven't started antibiotics because he shows no sign of infection, yet.

He survived the night. I hope he makes it through another day. Once he eats without me having to place the food in his mouth, I will then know the worse is over. Till, then, the odds are against his survival.
So I am asking for energy or prayers or wishes that he pulls through.

Heres a pic. It wasn't easy because he was on my lap.
I am happy that he ate 1/4 cup of game bird pellets this morning!!
But he doesn't like eating laying down but he cant stand up at all. I think that has a lot to do with him wanting you to put the food in his mouth for him.
He can move his legs and toes but doesn't want to. He may also hurt real bad when he moves his legs.
And he doesn't seem to mind getting his butt cleaned since he poops himself. He co-operates with out struggling or getting stressed.
He is calm, that too I am happy for.
He is a ringneck cross. Looks to be a Manchurian cross.

Healing energy for your beautiful bird! :hugz:

We have the wild ones here and yours does look different. I didn't even know that there were domesticated pheasants species and I used to eat them.

They do live in tight faimly groups and you can here them calling to each other from the brush warning each other when someone is in their territory.

They're tough birds in my experience and it sounds like yours has a real good chance. :)

Well its not good. I was hoping he would recover, but it doesn't look that way.
His legs are dead..no reaction to any stimulus what so ever.
His breathing is laboring. He is weakening.

The first full 24 hours after such a trauma usually write the road to survival or passing. Looks like he is going to pass.

Please send energy for a quick and comfortable passing?

I'd rather have him have a comfortable death than a miserable life.

Thank you.
He passed very peacefully just a few minutes ago.
He just slowly fell asleep. Tranquil.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( I've had to deal with that in chickens before.

He was beautiful. At least he died in comfort.

:hugz: Your a great person.

Thank you POS. I was hoping.
Sad, but not unexpected.
He was awfully beautiful. A lot of white and blues in his coloring.

At least he graced the world with his beauty for a time and I had the pleasure of experiencing him.
For that I am grateful.
