View Full Version : Should we continue with weekly readings?

I really Spread of the Week readings, but we seem to not have very many people participating. Is that because they are weekly and too frequent? Or because people don't feel confident in their reading abilities? Or you guys just don't like the spreads?
Please vote to continue, discontinue, or to continue "but" and if you choose "but" please put your suggestions in to the thread.
Thanks for the input, all!

I voted Yes, let's continue. I really like the spreads of the week, and find that it really gives me a lot of practice that I otherwise wouldn't have.

Well I love it, but if you want a break that is ok. However, it will be more difficult to start up again. If you want to help with spreads, just ask. I have some that are fun, but most aren't just 3 cards. Some are quite lengthy like the past life spread, which is great fun.

i'm really sorry I haven't been participating like I was. when I decided to drop my last student, it really took a lot out of me. I put alot of energy into healing and teaching someone when they come to me like that. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, and I have tommorow off- I'm doing Lisa's reading then.
ANyway, I'm hoping the SOTW thread continues.I really enjoy reading with you guys, and I think we are teaching folks even though they don't participate- look at how many views the thread gets.Maybe instead of chaning the spread, we can focus on a type of information- lost things, relationships, past lives (Shatril's idea sounded neat) using whatever lay we personally like to get info on the topic for the querent.

They're good... but perhaps too often.. perhaps a bi-weekly one?
As they stand, they're great practice for those who are still learnin the ropes, but at the same time, what with real life, and other duties, I'm sure a weekly one is hard for most people to make...

I've kind of had to step away from reading for a little bit too, things have been very busy. That said, i love the SOTW, and would like to get involved again.
Weekly or Bi-weekly I think are good ideas too - they're a good way to keep in practice, and they're a lot of fun. If you need help with spreads, I have some as well, and would be happy to share.

Anyone who has spread ideas, please send them! I'm always happy to use whatever spreads you suggest. Past lives sounds like fun! PM me your ideas! :)

I voted yes, because I am enjoying it, for me it's giving me confidence as a beginner which for me is sorely needed to read for others and myself, and also as I am new at tarot I'm learning quite a bit.

I voted yes. I just haven't been able to connect with any of my decks lately. (one is stuck on telling me that my husband and I are ready to leave each other... Which is so far off it's caused us and our friends to giggle.)
I'm shopping for a new one to play with, but now comes the awful struggle to choose. (I've narrowed it down to: Victorian Romantic Tarot, Druid Craft, or the Animal Divine.)
I really enjoy the spread of the week when I have time to participate. It keeps my skills from going to rot when I'm not doing readings for folks at home.
I'll look for a few spreads and exercises that we can do together, but it'll be probably next week before I can get it to ya'll (annual Beltane camp out yay!). :)

Well, the consensus seems to be to keep on reading! I'm glad because I enjoy them. I'll try to keep doing them weekly (or bi-weekly if I'm feeling overwhelmed) and those who can participate weekly can join in, and those who can't can choose to participate whenever they find a spread interesting or they have the time.
I hope some of the newbies decide to join us, but if not I hope they are enjoying reading the spreads and the threads and getting some good info. about reading styles and how the cards all flow together to tell a story. :)
The next spread is up and running, so jump in!

Please keep doing them! I, like practically everyone else here, had to stop for awhile because I was too busy/exhausted/had too much negative energy to read properly, but I have been looking at the spreads and writing them down for later. :)

I just wanted to add that I will try to start sending a "Gentle Reminder" PM if it seems like some of us are running late... as soon as I can figure out how to PM myself, I'll be all set!
*mumbles something about the evil addictiveness of procrastination* ;)

Here's another thought for the weekly spreads: How about we do a series of Celtic Cross readings (inspired by Taliesyn)? I'm sure that we each have our own version of this spread. If you guys want to tell me what yours is, then we'll do a different version each week for a little while. It'd be interesting to see what works with that spread for everyone and how each of us uses it.
Thoughts?

i too have neglected my tarot studies recently (busying myself with tedious, uninteresting and mundane things-like laundry!) and need to get back. i think this is forum is one of the best ways to learn and would hate to see it go. as a matter of fact, i will be back in the saddle start today!

Any chance of doing some tree of life readings. I have a great spread from my Lakota Sweat Lodge cards.
