Practical Rune Magic VIII - Harmony

"That eighth I know which to all men is
needful, and good to know:
when hatred runs high, heroes among,
their strife I can settle full soon."

Havamal 153:1-4 (Lee M. Hollander trans., Univ. of Tex. Press, 1962)

This charm deals with bringing reconciliation to a conflict. Use it to bring harmony & balance to a situation. You will need a black or white votive candle (or use what you have on hand), & something with which to carve Runes onto the candle.

Cast your protective circle & invoke the Norse/Germanic Gods/Goddesses (see Practical Rune Magic I). Speak aloud your purpose (ie, what the conflict is, & what you wish to reconcile). Using the 'north is up', carve these Runes onto the flat top of the votive: North- Wunjo; East- Gebo; South- Nauthiz; West- Mannaz. To speed the working, you can add a Dagaz in the center of the candle (let the points of the Dagaz meet at the wick). *Optional- add a drop of your blood to each Rune- NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH!* Light the candle, & let it burn 'til it won't burn any more.

Of course, this can be carved into a piece of wood, or into clay, or drawn on paper, or painted on a stone, to be carried or worn.

How it works: The 'anchor Rune' in this working is Nauthiz. Nauthiz (need) acts to 'bind' or 'restrain' the conflict. Gebo (gift) brings 'equal exchange' & balance between the conflicting parties. Mannaz (man, mankind) symbolizes the people involved. Wunjo (wishes fulfilled) adds harmony to the mix.

So if its not harmony between to people but harmony within ones self... would this charm be appropiate? I need (Nauthiz) an equal exchange and ballance (gebo) not with another person but with my heart and mind... Im outta practice Mentor :shhhh: Your input will be most appreciated! :reindeer:
