View Full Version : Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt?

I have an idea for an ongoing class about the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt (Netjeru of Kemet)
It seems like there are a few people interested in knowing more about them, but I don't know how many would actually be interested in such a class.
What I have in mind is something like one God or Goddes about once a week or every fortnight depending on how quickly people reply. I would be posting information about them and a short meditation to meet them. Each weeks assignment would basically be to post the results of the meditation and add any information about the God or Goddess that the students find.
So if you are interested, let me know.

Great, I'm glad there is some interest. I was hoping to get at least 10 people voting that they are interested, and then I will speak to SwordsFlameSong about opening a class folder for it. So if you read this and are interested, please vote!
There are so many Gods and Goddesses to mention, that I could easily see this as an ongoing thing (at least 52 weeks) so people could opt in or leave at any time, but it would be nice to have a sort of core group of students to get to know each other.
There are a lot of "lesser known" Netjeru whom people rarely worship or get to know, so it will be interesting and hopefully I can find things that no one has heard about so you can all learn something new and meet new Gods and Goddesses.
I'm looking forward to it, as it will give me an excuse to do even more research :reading:

I'm not sure what to answer.
I'm interested in the class, but more as discussion of the Netjeru and sharing.
I took the HON intro class (I'm still just an undivined Remetj) and I've been reading about Kemet most of my life (which is why I was drawn to HON). Plus I'm good (obsessive is more like it  ) about researching, so I don't really need help in that dept.
ETA: I do lack personal experience with the Netjeru (in a spiritual, personal relationship sort of way) so I'm interested in what everyone shares.
Even though I don't think Kemetic Orthodox is my path, I still love everything about Kemet and there's not many people that I know to discuss this stuff with.
I'll vote "yes" ...seems to fit!

Em hotep Agaliha,
I will definitely encourage discussion and sharing, I hope it won't just be me talking!
The outline would go something like this:
I post a "lesson" giving information about the God or Goddess, and then post a short meditation, especially helpful for those who have never approached the Netjer/Netjert mentioned, but maybe not necessary if you already have a relationship (which might be that case with some of the more well known Gods). Then we all discuss that God and share our experiences with that God and if you tried the meditation you can share your results as well. Any extra things or discussions that students want can be addressed along the way as well.
Hope that helps.

Em Hotep! (it's been a long time since I've used that phrase!)
Sounds great NeferSatSekhmet
I really have no idea what I feel about the gods. I'm still confused, but I'm still facinated by them (many of them, not just Kemetic). Who knows, maybe I'll get a sign or...something. Though I did say I was through with Theism :2G: Blah. Too complicated to get into it here!

I love this idea so much NeferSatSekhmet. Would you mind if I put out a call for people to do the same with other pantheons?

I'm glad its a good idea (Every once in a while I do get one  )
About other pantheons, the more the merrier. It would be neat to see other people do something similar for their Gods.
I love the Kemetic Pantheon because there are literally hundreds and hundreds of Gods and Goddesses and different combinations to get to know. So I won't run out of material to teach before people run out of interest.

I'm in! I've always loved the Egyptian pantheon, they never called to me the way the Celts do (at least most of them didn't) but I'm always interested to learn more.

I think this would be a good idea. Do you think you might expand this into an Egyptian Wicca class?

If there is interest in an Egyptian Wicca class, I may work on coming up with a Lesson Plan and course outline.
The original idea for the Netjeru of Kemet class just didn't work, although there seemed to be lots of interest, there was not much input into the first Lesson. I don't think my plan matched up with reality. LOL And then after that I had some things come up at home which meant I couldnt put as much time into it as I wanted.
I definitely do have some ideas on how to incorporate Wiccan and Egyptian concepts into one path, so the mention of running an Egyptian Wicca class actually intrigues me and I think I could do it.
